@Catwhoshatinthehat You're right about the card grading business, (and that's what it is) it was one of the things that killed collecting for me also.

I don't know about new Trout cards with pubes or splinters attached but baseball cards in my personal experience are an incredibly bad investment as far as new product is concerned. I learned the hard way. If you collect for the fun of it then that's best because collecting for investment isn't going to get you anything but lost money. ymmv Even vintage Topps cards from the 50's and 60's are hard to sell unless they are graded. I had some really nice Topps Roger Maris cards from the early 60's that several people weren't interested in at any price! Buyer beware! ymmv

Someone please kick me if I ever buy another baseball card! Tried to sell some of my cards from 25 or so years ago, I can't even give them away. Asked a couple of dealers if they would be interested in my collection and they told me to find some kid to give them to.

I would disagree with that as he (Cowart) had a couple of really bad years with the bat in the minors and in 8 minor league seasons he hit .257. In parts of 3 ML seasons he's hitting .197. Unfortunately Cowart is a good field no hit player. He had a lot of promise but just wasn't able to produce.
