  1. Mike Scioscia for what its worth would be the most sought after managerial candidate if he was to quit. He would have a managerial job as soon as he wanted one. The truth is, as much as he drives us crazy, he is still one of the most respected managers in the game. As far as whether or not he would get paid like he is currently getting paid, I would say it would be close. I think he would probably be the highest paid manager in the sport, especially if that is what it would take for the Dodgers to get him. Before you all blast me about whether or not he should be, read what I wrote. I am not saying he should be, I am just saying he will be. Go ahead and blast me now.
  2. I completely agree with this.
  3. You are crazy if you think Mike wouldn't get a very similar contract if he quit and took the rest of the year off. Remember the Dodgers basically print money.
  4. I don't see opting out as quitting, I see it as going after another big contract. Or if you guys are right and he really wants to be a Dodger again, this would give him the opportunity.
  5. I was responding to the poster that said Scioscia was making these decisions because he wants to be fired. I am not arguing that he is or isn't an idiot, my point is that he isn't trying to get fired.
  6. Right on guys, you keep on believing that the reason the Angels are losing is because the manager wants it that way. Ignore the total lack of common sense that would take.
  7. What makes me the ultimate authority is that I have common sense. I can't answer your questions as to why he made his decisions tonight or why he didn't pinch run for Morales 9 months ago, and neither can you. What I can tell you with no uncertainty is he didn't do those things because he is trying to lose. It doesn't pass the smell test.
  8. Shane, if you know me then you know I am not a hater.
  9. Well if you are asking me, I already gave the answer in another thread. I would fire Scioscia if Dipoto or Arte felt like he has lost the team, that is why I would fire him mid season. If this team continues to play at this level or if there is only a slight improvement the rest of the way then I would remove him as manager after the season. If this season is truly lost then hold on to Scioscia and trade him after the season.
  10. Well it certainly isn't because he is trying to lose or purpose. Like I said I would not have pulled Williams there, but to go straight to he is trying to lose on purpose is perhaps the stupidest opinion there is. It is even more stupid than the opinion that players that make a lot of money don't care about winning.
  11. I would have let Williams pitch the 7th, but to say that Downs has been better this year than De La Rosa or Kohn is just plain wrong.
  12. De La Rosa and Kohn have both pitched well this season.
  13. If you had any credibility here it was just lost with this opinion.
  14. So I was talking to someone today that is close to Rob Piccilo and he was saying that Mike has an opt out clause at the end of this season, this was the first I have heard of it. So I looked at Cots and it actually says Mike has one after 2015. I am just shocked that not only had I never heard that before, but people here aren't talking about it. The guy I was talking to is a stand up guy who's uncle is a major league coach, so I believe the things he says. I am not saying he is right about when the buy out is, he is probably mistaken about the year, but he had an interesting take on the next Angel manager, Sandy Alomar Jr. So there you go, for what it's worth.
  15. He pulled him because of how long he sat while the Angels were batting combined with the fact that this is, what his third start of the season, so he isn't completely stretched out. I am not saying I would do this, I am just saying that I am guessing this is his reason.
  16. You're right it's been a horrible season which is especially hard considering the expectations. So critique the players performance. Don't shit talk the guy who took a home town discount to stay here. Don't question his work ethic and integrity just because he isn't back in your fandom time frame.
  17. The game is being played in Tampa, he was bound to hit either an old dude or an empty seat, there really isn't any other outcome.
  18. No, not at all. Actually its pathetic, but you know that.
  19. So we are now questioning Weaver's integrity or work ethic, that's pretty cool.
  20. I think the four will hit 110 home runs at least. I still think that Hamilton, as bad as he has been will hit over 30 and probably closer to 35. He has been so bad and yet still was 5 home runs, which is about one a week. He is bound to heat up and have a month where he hits 12 home runs. Hell, if he has three months where he hits 8 each month he will hit well over 30. I think Pujols will start to hit a little more and get close to 30. I think Trout is a lock for 30, he might even have close to 20 by the All Star Break, he has been hitting the ball very well this month. Trumbo if he can avoid the long slump that killed him last season will hit 35. I guess we will see.
  21. We all hate Blanton, but with timely hitting he has two or three wins. He has pitched well enough to win in at least two starts this season. How but just once, the offense scores 9 runs early in a game and keeps a struggling pitcher in a game. Understand I am not blaming the offense for how awful Blanton is, but there are bad pitchers out there with lousy whips and ERA's that have a couple wins.
  22. Yea, its posts like this that make me question the intelligence of this forum. So guys who are the most competitive in their sport don't care about winning, they only care about having a manager that takes it easy on them? I don't buy it.
  23. Chuck you do know that what you are suggesting is nonsense, right? Until the team is playing well and consistently winning up to peoples expectations it is next to impossible to post anything optimistic without the thread being derailed immediately or being called an apologist. It's a fact that this community loves to show up to bitch and complain. I totally get the frustration but those people now have a much bigger voice on here then they once did and that doesn't make your site better, just busier.
