    Burns is a 5th-year senior catcher. Looks like he barely played until this year. Took a ton of walks (he's probably just org filler, but interesting that even those guys seem to be falling into the on-base skills category). McGillis is another 5th-year guy. He'll be 25 in January. Strange stats this year: 31 hits, of which 14 were HR. Walks a good amount.

    Well, for 12 years, I went to a school called Greater Atlanta Christian School that was affiliated with the CoC, so I can't ever remember a time when I DIDN'T hear about Lipscomb.

    Yep, Harding was another school where several folks from my school always ended up going to every year.

    Yeah, I understand how the process works. Again, just surprised it's with these two guys.

    Admittedly, I don't know much about either one, but Wimmer wasn't ranked on pre-draft boards that I saw, and Kent was ranked as the equivalent to something around the 4th round. That's kinda what I don't really get: it's not like these two guys had major heat on them to begin with, so why go out of your way to go over slot on them?

    He didn't hit in AAA last year, which is why he's back at AA this year. He'll also be 26 before the start of next season. He's just a guy.

    I can't remember who, but someone on here recently said they "hated" Freddie Freeman. I don't know how someone could hate him. Seems like a great guy and seems personable, to genuinely enjoy playing and interacting with other players, etc. I wish there were more guys like him around.

    Yeah, I know virtually nothing about Rodriguez, but as a 20-year-old HS grad, I'm guessing it won't take much to get him to sign. He's committed to South Carolina, but I don't see that as a huge obstacle.

    Ok, so after the McCroskey pick in the 20th round, I'm officially confused. Guess we'll see how it plays out over the next couple weeks with the bonuses these guys get. I just don't see anyone who looks to be significantly over slot. They could still sign undrafted guys, too. Max bonus for them without penalty is $125K. Anything over that counts against the bonus pool.

    I don't see anyone in the 18 picks so far who should go for much over slot, if at all (Barrett Kent has the largest gap between pre-draft ranking and where he was taken, but from what I've been able to find about him, he doesn't really seem like a guy you'd break the bank on). So either they're planning on drafting someone in the 20th round who'll require an overpay, or they're just being very conservative with their money this year.
