I'm glad that having 5 days off and only playing two games in the three days before that left this team well-rested, focused, and ready to kick ass in the second half!
At this point, I'm borderline ok trading Ohtani to anyone who will take Rendon's contract. I don't even want anything back. Mets are probably the only team that would even consider that, so it's too bad they're out of it this year.
He's played more OF than 1B over the course of his minor league career--though from what I've read, he's not particularly great defensively at any position.
That's pretty much how I'm looking at it. To me, the worst-case scenario would be doing just well enough to carry on the illusion of a real shot at the playoffs. If that happens, Minasian probably ends up doing nothing or even trading prospects to get veterans on expiring contracts, then missing the playoffs, not signing Ohtani, and getting a compensation pick in the 65-80 range.
I either want a huge winning streak or a complete collapse.
Seems kinda random that he'd get the highest NDFA bonus. Turns 23 in a few weeks and didn't seem to have crazy numbers until this season. Angels are definitely making moves that go against the so-called "experts" and pre-draft rankers. That's fine, of course, as the Angels SHOULD know more than them...Just hope some of these dudes pan out.
