O'Neal re: Ohtani: "He's looking to go through the first time perfect." Even with that mangled syntax, Ohtani gave up a hit this inning. Maybe he meant facing the minimum through three? Or maybe he's just clueless...

I honestly think it's both. I didn't think it was possible for him to be worse, but that does appear to be the case--and Randazzo has been great so far.

He doesn't strike me as a Han Solo-type.

He's just not that good. I think I've mentioned this elsewhere, but prior to last year, he had negative career bWAR and barely positive fWAR. He had a surge in power last year playing in a park that's hitter-friendly. Regression was almost guaranteed. That said, he's been even worse than I imagined.

Yeah, maybe that's Nevin's thinking? Give him a couple days off in the midst of this 17-game stretch, and hopefully the rest of the team can do enough to beat the absolutely awful Royals. ...now watch it be like 10-1 Royals tonight. Ha ha.

Yeah, waiting on the news. No clue why Rengifo would be in CF. Guess it could just be a "scheduled off-day" for Trout? But still, seems like you'd put Ward in CF and if you have to play Rengifo in the OF, stick him in LF.

I've gotta think they either call up Quero or make some sort of move if O'Hoppe is out for an extended period of time. You cannot have Thaiss and Wallach as your two catchers if you expect to be in contention for the playoffs.

The full quote from Trout is perhaps even worse than the headline? "Trout, meantime, suggested he isn’t abandoning all hope, telling The Post, “Ultimately, it’s going to come down if we get to the playoffs. That could put a thought in his mind — that could give us a shot.” That latter portion makes it sound like Trout thinks Ohtani won't even consider the Angels unless they make the playoffs.
