  1. I never read/heard about that, but I will take your word for it. I still have never understood the Rodney argument though because he came to the Angels with a career 4.28 ERA as a relief pitcher. Its not like he was this great pitcher beforehand and then Butcher ruined him. I don't blame Butcher for trying to change his mechanics because whatever he was doing with the Tigers certainly wasn't working.
  2. Brandon Crawford is playing some uncharacteristically bad defense for the giants
  3. Anyone know what the rule is if a pitch simultaneously hits the bat and the hand? Just happened to Josh Donaldson. Seemed to be a lot of confusion
  4. Wow I can't believe it's so fun to watch the angels again!
  5. No way, as shown above he is still a good hitter away from home, but not any better then Aybar. He is hitting even worse away from Coors then he normally does this year and his defense isn't that much better then Aybars, especially considering Aybar is having a great year defensively. If for any reason we were going to trade a bunch of players away I would rather them take a stab at Price. Either way, trying to add offense to a team that is #3 in runs scored and will probably be #1 soon is really not a top priority.
  6. Yeah I see that now. And thanks, I definitely did not know you could do that. Will be very helpful in the future.
  7. Oh ok, so much more then just the last month. That kind of buries the fact that he has done better than those stats show recently, which I thought was the point of the discussion. Although to then counter what I just said, he is hitting .176 in his last 5 games. Where did you get the stats for his last 97 PA? Just curious. Did you have to calculate it yourself?
  8. According to baseball reference, he is hitting .270/.289/.432/.722 over the last 28 days...Not great, but just thought I would clarify. I think they should stick with what is working for now. Eventually Kole should be getting more ABs because he will only get better against lefties if he is given the chance (plus the sample size is quite small right now). But with the starting pitching struggling and the offense rolling, why change a good thing?
  9. Well he won't have to face Encarnacion, that's for sure.
  10. Yeah, I guess not. I just thought since he is still a solid rotation guy that a team might be willing to give up some talent for him, but I guess the only teams who would be buyers would be those actually trying to contend in the playoffs. I mean, the biggest problem is his contract. He's going through a slump, but overall he's been much more effective as a SP then almost every pitcher thats been available this season, including Samardzija and Hammel, and could still prove to have a better year then either of them. Maybe a team that doesn't quite have all the pieces for a Price trade, but is looking for a solid starter and has the money to spend? The Giants maybe?? This is really far-fetched, I know, but thought I would pose the question. If this were possible and Cron had to be thrown in, would it even be worth it?
  11. So I have a question for you guys who know a bit more about about our minor league system then I do. It also may be a stupid question so I'm not going to make a whole thread about it. Say the Angels did really want to try to get Price. Would there be any possibility of a three way trade? Like sending CJ somewhere for some trade pieces that could go to the Rays along with an extra piece from the Angels? Or would that not really work? Once again, I'm not incredibly familiar with the minor leagues. I know a bit about the Angels and pretty much nothing outside of that. I know we are not adding to our SP depth by doing this, but we would clearly be strengthening it. I really wouldn't trust CJ in the playoffs. He hasn't done well in the past and the way he looks this year doesn't give me any hopes for a turn around. Price, Weaver, Richards would be an awesome 1-2-3 in the playoffs. I know this is kind of a pie-in-the-sky idea, but I thought I would ask those who may know more then I do on the subject. Any opinions on this?
  12. So we take on Colon because he is the best bargain? There are much better guys available then Colon, but we don't have the trade pieces available to pick any of them up. So we just say screw it and go with Colon despite a much deeper hole in the bullpen? Or maybe we don't waste whatever it would take to pick up the guy who is way over the hill, has posted a 7.71 ERA against AL hitting this year, and with our luck will take a dive and be much less effective then Shoemaker/Santiago. Maybe we just use those pieces to fill the real need we have. Maybe actually get a legit closer?
  13. I'm not convinced this will make a huge difference. The potential is there and if anyone is going to bring it out the A's are it, but neither Samardzija or Hammel have been that impressive outside of this year. The good year they are both having can change quickly though when switching leagues. Both guys are going to have to face consistently deeper lineups then they had to in the NL. I feel that Hammel will come back down to earth. Not really sure about Samardzija, just not sure he is all he has been cracked up to be. We will see though. Either way, the A's trading away young top tier talent is always a good thing. Especially considering they are able to get great production out of young, cheap arms. If these two guys don't at least continue the production they have had for the rest of the year I think this will go down as a bad trade for the A's. Just my two cents.
  14. Yeah I'm really surprised at how bad the Rays have been. Worse record then the Astros. The red Sox have been all over the board but the Rays have been a 90 win team since 2010.
  15. How we face Vargas tomorrow and since he is a former Angel he will undoubtedly become cy Vargas and shut the angels out
  16. Nice!! This team is so fun to watch when pujols and Hamilton are hitting
  17. Me neither. I called his no hitter during the 4th inning and even texted my sister who lived down the street because my tv wasn't working because I wanted to watch history. And he still did it despite me saying the words several times
