Personally, I agree that sex education doesn’t really make sense generally for young children. That’s the business of parents. That said, I don’t think the presence of an LGBTQ teacher or like a picture of their spouse on their desk is a problem. I don’t really understand why anyone else should have a problem with it. Gay people exist in the world. Your kid is going to encounter them.
now as far as teenagers. High school aged children. Sex ed is important. If someone wants to opt their kid out of it. Then fine. I don’t think anyone should oppose that. I personally think that’s a disservice the kid, but whatever. Describing the existence of different types of people shouldn’t be a problem. Now does that mean that an excessively ideologically individual may behave in a manner that doesn’t make sense. Absolutely. That should be corrected. That’s a thing that can go both ways btw. Just to be clear. But simply not demonizing gay people or trans people and recognizing that they exist shouldn’t be a problem. A person can’t be “turned” gay or trans. They are or they aren’t.
I think this a reasonable position. But who cares what I think!
