Trade deficits aren’t really something anyone should take seriously on a year to year basis. A lot of it depends very heavily on the strength of the dollar at any given time. if you look at traditional macro metrics the economy is quite good under Biden, as it was under Trump and for latter portion of the Obama administration. Rates are certainly at a healthier level than they were during the Trump and Obama years. This is related to the fed trying to drive down inflation. There’s only a couple of buttons they can press to work on this. They mashed the rate button. That it largely worked is indicative that the economy is functioning properly. these facts are pretty indicative of how those macro metrics don’t necessarily mean the economy feels good to you and I. And why it has always been dumb to pretend otherwise. Both sides like to spin what’s good and what’s bad in exactly the same way whenever it’s convenient for them. It’s mostly all bullshit. People feel good when their dollar comfortably buys stuff and services. They feel good when they have some money to save and they feel good when they don’t have a bunch of debt. These are all problems that are not necessarily obvious in the macro metrics. Doesn’t mean they aren’t real problems. Of course they are. Nobody should look to any American politician to relieve those problems. Sorry, not how the system works.

There’s that also. It’s kind of interesting to look at. While Trump does have large and passionate base, that almost surely will drive him to the nomination he also is broadly unpopular across the entire electorate. Even among conservatives there is legitimate polling that a majority would prefer another candidate. But those findings are obviously up for debate. regarding DeSantis tho, even if you take Trump out of the equation his unfavorables are not deniable. He’s literally the most unpopular politician in America by a good number of metrics. People just don’t like him. Trump or not.

I think the main problem with Ron DeSantis is that people saw him. The guy is a fucking weirdo. It’s not really more complicated than that.
