    His last start was good. Not that surprising that he wasnt sharp in a couple of extended ST starts which is what it was for him, except against AAA players who did have ST. I wouldn’t mind rolling the dice on him.

    I’ve seen Scott Hatterburg as a comp for Thaiss. If we get that out of him it’ll be pretty decent imo.

    He’s with salt lake for some reason. He’s struggled a bit there.

    Yes, but Thaiss is a guy that is hitting solidly below average in the PCL. An issue with him last year as well. Not a great indicator for his fortunes at the major league level. He may just need more time. It’s still early for sure. But man, you really wonder about a guy like Matt Thaiss. And it’s not like he’s a young player in AAA. What we do know about Ward is that if they want him playing 3B he needs as many reps as possible there. He’s apparently not getting them now. Not in games anyway.

    I see they’re playing Ward at 1B. Makes you wonder if they’re giving up on him at 3B.

    Some guys are just like this. They can’t stay healthy. The Angels are lucky Garret Richards took the extra money and became San Diego’s problem.

    I don’t mind using your effective relievers in high leverage spots. I think it’s smart. But if you’re going to do that you probably want to have effective relievers for the end of the game. I don’t get what they’re doing with Anderson. And I don’t get why they’re doing the buddy system with Barria. Probably could have used Robles late game today.

    And I dislike not letting Barria just be a starting pitcher.

    I get using the best relievers in the highest leverage spots, but it would be nice to have a reliable guy ready to close the game out as well. Cody Allen hasn’t really demonstrated himself as very reliable. And Garcia definitely hasn’t. Anderson looked great with the big club. He had a couple of rough ones at salt lake and now hey haven’t brought him back. It’s a weird situation with him imo.
