I don't want any part of Colon. But I am a Big Fan of Roberto Hernandez (to the point of being almost obsessed) especially since he'd be cheap. K's were up, XFIP/ SIERA had him around 3.60 for last season. GET ROBERTO!!!

His K rate was down from the year before, but not incredibly far off from what its been in the past. His control was good, his Velocity was good. And he was actually OK in arlington, which is something.

I don't see him getting 80 Million. MLBTR predicted 4 years, 60 Million (15 per) and I think that is roughly about right, give or take. The problem would be finding cash for a DH, but I suppose we could just find someone to take Jepsen and Ianetta off our hands. Right? RIGHT?

The biggest problem affecting his performance is that his FB looked flat more than (Just) the velo drop. #amaturescoutingreport.

(The curve right around the :40 mark is filthy.

I've watched a few of his games from last year, and his curve was less than it had been (or maybe I was falling for the narrative of his limited performance) and it was still lethal. How far away would you say his change up is?

A starter, a DH, and call it an offseason. I actually don't hate the idea of Kendrick getting moved-- the next check mark on your offseason list should be "Improve minor league quality". No FA's tied to draft pick is a start. A few Prospects wouldn't hurt.

I'll second this and add a few things (which I brought up in my trade review column on the front page) 1) He's been a reliever until this past season. More experience would help quite a bit. 2)He throws at least one pitch (screwball) which isn't very good at all. 3) Some of his pitches (Curveball, Cutter) are improving year to year. Think of him as a # 4 next year and more than that in the future. Also: Even without Skaggs, a solid mid-rotation starter is about the going rate for players like Trumbo.

Agree, though with Skaggs velo drop and Richard's success I'd say Skaggs will be a Bee next year.

I always keep my expectations low. I'm expecting: "The Angels have traded Mark Trumbo for Taylor Skaggs and Joe Blanton. Yeah, we know they already have Blanton and no one knows who Taylor Skaggs is, but they fumbled up the paper work and the commish is drunk."

He's not a knock out closer. But as a guy who soaks up innings as the 4th or 5th best guy in the pen? Sign me up. Adding Burnett and Smith along with Salas (I get the feeling Jepsen is heading for greener pastures) is an improvement.

I'm Callin' my shot: Trumbo/Jepsen to D-Backs for Cahill/AJ Pollack. (Why Pollack? WHY NOT? Also: Trade Chip).

I wish he had one more offseason, but I don't think he'd be bad at all. He has Pretty good discipline even if he doesn't walk as much as you'd like.

I'm not convinced you haven't replaced Dipoto. If he looks like Vincent D'onofrio in Men in Black, my fears will be confirmed.

Crazier things have happened in baseball. You just missed my Grant Green as a DH idea. I like it way too much to not have thought of it before.

Heck-- if Green can tap into his hitting ability, he might be a net plus. I guess I'd rather start Grant Green than Joe Blanton. Or we can sign Mark Ellis at 2B instead of Hart and let Green be a DH. I was kidding, but that seems like a decent plan, actually.

Something just occurred to me: What if the reason we are so scared of the luxury tax this season is that, with Trout about to get PAID, they are afraid of going over next year?

For the record, I want the Angels to keep a vice grip on their prospects.

Reporters are there. They do a bunch of stuff like name each Minor league executive of the year and do some HOF stuff.

I hope he's one of those guys who can take a year off and acutally have a healthy arm. It was painful to watch last year.

Uh... Miley and Skaggs PLUS something else for just Trumbo? Not sure I see that as "Reasonable".
