  1. Apparently the Yanks and Correa may be a thing now…
  2. Cohen just doing what all owners should be doing and that’s trying to win. Can’t get mad at him for it. If we had an owner like that we’d all be ecstatic
  3. With the Mets going wild Perry is going to need to get aggressive. Lots of teams left standing around with no body are going to start to pivot. Perry is in a bit of a pickle with the ownership change. He’s either going to have to explain why he handed out a few terrible contracts this offseason in hopes of making a playoff push or explain to them how he drove one of baseballs biggest superstars away Which is why again, I think he somewhat just straddles the fence this offseason. Renfroe and Urshela are off the books next season. Anderson was good value. Contreras would’ve been great value. Which leads us to Swanson. If the value is right he’ll do it. Correa no chance
  4. This tweet was from 4 days ago and I have no reason to believe it’s a legit Twitter account
  5. Those things always work themselves out. After hearing Nevin comment on Adell being rushed I wouldn’t be surprised if they just told him to go get settled in AAA all year with a plan Trout will miss time it’s inevitable. Good chance Ward does too. If there’s value to be had you jump on it. Renfroe is a FA after this season. Adell or Moniak are far from sure things.
  6. Nothing pisses off Jays fans more than seeing Biggio in the lineup
  7. Some of you get way to emotionally attached to these players If Ohtani’s contract is going to handcuff new ownership then please trade him Unless new ownership is ready to start spending like the Padres I want no part of a massive Ohtani contract. I said the exact same for Trout. Looking back, trading Trout would’ve been the smart move
  8. I think the value was simply too good to ignore. Look at the contract these shortstops are getting. I’ll gladly take Contreras at 1/3 of the cost. Plus he’d be a massive upgrade over what we have. I think Contreras was just a move Perry saw a ton of value in. From a cost perspective and roster perspective. I think Perry is keeping all options open and whenever there’s value he’s going to explore it. After thinking this through I have a tough time believing he’ll be pursuing Correa. Which is why I always thought if we ended up with 1 of the 4 shortstops it would be Swanson. However, Xander contract might have Swanson thinking bigger now
  9. With the way some of these top teams are throwing around money the Angels are being sold at a good time In a year or two it’s going to be really tough for teams that aren’t spending crazy money to compete The NL playoffs are pretty much on lock for the next few years with the Dodgers, Mets, Padres, Phillies, Braves and one NL central team I assume the Giants will be players for Correa but man, unless I’m just wanting to get paid signing with the Giants right now sounds like an awful idea given the division they’re in
  10. I think it was Contreras or bust as far as upgrading catcher went. I’ve wanted Contreras for years. I floated out the idea of flipping Fletch for Contreras when his value was really high. Perry saw an opportunity here and took his shot. It’s a damn shame he missed. I’m really encouraged to hear that he tried though. Whenever you can get the type of offensive production at the plate from the catcher position that Contreras brings it’s a HUGE plus. It would’ve done a lot overall for this lineup. My perfect offseason would’ve been Contreras, Bassit and Abreu. All in that 3-5 year range at 17-20 per. Like I said, I’m not sure where you pivot to from here. We need a lot more than a Carlos Correa if we’re going to make a run at the playoffs.
  11. I don’t think it needs to be said now but I’ll say it anyways… We aren’t getting Correa. He’s going to get well over 3 now
  12. I had said a few pages back I wanted a combo of Contreras and one of Bassit/Senga then trade for a SS over one of the big time shortstops. We would’ve been set up nicely this season. Not sure where you pivot to from here. If you wanted Contreras that’s a big time blow to your plans. You aren’t trading for Murphy. Stassi is a black hole in the lineup. Contreras OBP plus pop in his bat is such a massive plus from the catcher position.
  13. Pain. Well Perry, I’m impressed you wanted Contreras. Damn shame you didn’t land him but I’m glad to hear you tried
  14. I expect another Renfroe/Gio type move and that’ll be that positional player wise
  15. Literally no one remembers who won or counts those covid championships except for the fans of the teams that won
  16. The guy is 6’7” 282… how much longer can his body hold up? Very curious to see this one play out
  17. I can’t decide if Judge staying in NY screws us over in the shortstop market or not Let’s pretend we do want Correa, did the Giants now throw a bunch of money at him when they otherwise wouldn’t have if they got Judge? Would the Yanks have went after Xander if they lost out on Judge?
  18. If you watch the interview he says it’s still early in the offseason and that he haven’t seen Santa yet. I took it as it’s not even December 25th yet
