  1. Sorry, but I just can't be positive. You can't go 3 straight historically bad offseasons (Wells, Albert, Hamilton), then just all of a sudden turn things around. Arte isn't smart enough to have a good offseason. We're done for as long as Arte is owner. Bottom feeders. Astros will finish ahead of them in 2 years. Feel bad for Trout, has to suffer through this. At least for him he can go to the Yankees, Phillies, or Dodgers in 4 years and get out from underneath this mess Arte has created. Next 8 years with Albert Pujols will be a failure. I can't wait to watch our 40 year old 30 million dollar pinch hitter that can't hit or run. That will be fun.

    Not looking good.

  2. The main problem with the Pujols contract is that we really needed the first 4 seasons of the contract to be great. That isn't going to happen.

Most FA's these days get market value at the beginning of their contract, then are overpaid because their skills decline. Pujols is probably going to be incredibly overpaid his entire contract except maybe the 1st year. 9 years of overpaying for a mediocre first baseman with no footspeed and rapidly declining plate discipline. It is 150% an Albatross. Worst contract ever if you ask me.

  3. Not caring about the draft picks is what has plunged this team into high payroll/low performance results.

The Angels need to step away from the mortgage the future practices since they have already blown several drafts in a row. Ulbaldo is nottgat player that a team with a weak minor leagues should be giving up a midfle pick in the first round. He just doesn't have the stable resume.

The Angels need to give Vargas a qualifying offer and quit fing around with worrying if he accepts. If he does you have at least a one year rental at the league going price. You may be able to get a lower overall number with a three year deal or if he bolts you have a draft pick instead of giving him away for free.

F no for dealing away too much talent for Price and having 2 years of top arb money or even more if theytry a contract extension. Giving up Sappington will bite the Angels ass as much as Corbin or Skaggs. Price will bolt to the Yankees and we will be out two players still under club control and a young arm that is probably going to be MLB ready in two seasons.

    Stop the madness.

Agreed. This organization really needs to stop pissing away the future. If they continue down the current path they're on trying to "win now", our future will only get worse and worse. They just need to go back to being a smart org that builds for the future with cheap players from within NOW. No more dicking around with patch work BS

  4. Aybar is now being underrated I think because of one down year after back-to-back 4+ WAR seasons. I think he's more valuable to us than Kendrick IMO. I realize that the downgrade from Kendrick's bat to Green's bat is massive, but Aybar is usually just such a great SS when he has years like he did in 2009, 2011, 2012. 2010 and 2013 were definitely down years from him.

  5. Let's hate on Arte for pulling the trigger to what at the time was the most exciting signing all-time in Angels history. And received well by all of you.

Let's also hate on Albert Pujols because he got off to a horrid April in 2012 and dealt with Plantar fasciitis until he was shelved.

**** me, our fanbase is filled with negative nancy's and debbie downer's.

It's the worst contract in the history of the game. People are going to be pissed about what Arte did. This isn't the GMJ signing, it's much worse. It's worse than even the Wells trade. It's such a bad contract that we'll be getting mediocre at best production out of our 3 hole hitter for the next 8 years. Pujols has not performed. You can all sit here and make excuses, but the fact is  he hasn't shown me that he's capable of even semi-living up to that contract. This year is his last chance. It's going to get even uglier if he doesn't mash this year. You guys can count on that.

  6. I think Hamilton will have a better season than Pujols. Pujols is pretty much done in my opinion. I think we can expect a .260/.330/.450/.780 with 24 HR from him - truly a terrible season for a 25 million dollar 1st baseman. He's in decline, and will never get back to the player he was in the past. I doubt he even produces like he did for us in 2012. I so hope I'm wrong.

Hamilton, IMO, is in line to bounce back. I'm ballparking him at .270/.335/.510/.845 with 29 HR. That's still not worth 25 million dollars, but it's a lot better than last year, and I can live with that out of my cleanup hitter.

Overall, I'm much more concerned about Pujols. There's just something about the way he swings the bat that goes deeper than his injury. Something looks off. I don't expect him to produce anything even if he's completely healthy

  7. LOL @ people getting angry over this, it's irrelevant to the teams bullpen unless he starts to produce in AAA and we lose some guys to injuries. Maybe he tosses 10 scoreless innings in Spring Training too and he becomes apart of the BP. Either way, it's depth that we desperately need.

Stange and Rasmus were supposed to be "depth" too. Just becomes someone is a warm body doesn't mean they help your depth. This guy is most likely awful. I'm not freaking out about this...I just want to see real additions to the pen with value at some point

  8. Holy shit, comparing Napoli to Pujols. Napsackers have taken the nut swinging to a new level.

Pujols played this season on one foot and you want to make a comparison?

Why not put the numbers side by side since 2006 then start flapping your gums just how great Napoli is.

I didn't compare Naps to Pujols. I simply said that Pujols is the worst contract ever, while Napoli is still mashing. I did however compare Trumbo to Napoli, and that is a valid one, and another shitty decision by this org
