  1. Maybe our offseason budget should go into a new training staff.
  2. Arte asked $3.5B. He received 2 offers at that amount on the same day. That prompted him to withdraw the team from market because he thought he could get more. Not that it has ever been a mystery, but the guy could care less about the team; it's a pay day for him. And he has signed players that could care less about the team; it's a pay day for them.
  3. It hasn't since May and I advocated for trading Shohei, but that is revisionist, and we won't re-litigate that. The issue with this team isn't talent, its philosophy. I think we've seen that with some trades (Mous, Cron, Grichuk) and call-ups. We need a culture shift, not a talent shift. It's a work in progress but I like the direction. I think Perry is PHENOMENAL and I hope he gets the chance to actually build his own team. "Ownership" just needs to get out of the way, for once.
  4. Of course not. But isn't this supposed to be a playoff contender? If so, Adams shouldn't be out there. If not, well... What Adams needs is the ability to react to a play and, if he doesn't make it, his team bails him out. In my opinion and from what I've seen, Sandoval hasn't helped there.
  5. 100% agree. Bad play by Adams but that inning is on Sandoval. This team isn't missing players; it's missing leadership. There's a lot of heart but also too many guys collecting checks.
  6. For a team scraping and clawing for a playoff spot, retaining Nevin is an interesting choice.
  7. Looks like we will field offers: Angels Will Reportedly Consider Shohei Ohtani Trade Offers; Deal Seen As Unlikely - MLB Trade Rumors It's the right thing to do, see if a team will ante up the Godfather offer; if not, then hang on and take your chances, I guess.
  8. Ohtani and Rendon anywhere for a bag of baseballs. Used the Rendon savings to put together a monster offer for Ohtani in the offseason.
  9. New season, same story. Definition of insanity. Tear the thing down and start over, starting with an Ohtani trade. Might be painful for a few years but can't be any worse than the last 15.
  10. As someone who is 1/100th of the athlete of Trout and without the benefit of the Angels medical staff (advantage: me?), I've done something very similar. I tweaked it on a dry swing and thought/hoped it was nothing. Got into the game and let it rip, hurt like hell and shelved me for a few months. I hope I'm wrong but that looked eerily similar and did not look good.
  11. I initially read this as "Tough Tony" and thought we had come up with an awesome new nickname.
  12. If Herget is our best high leverage option, let's deal Ohtani now. Pathetic.
  13. Glad to see the glaring Achilles heel of this team is living up to expectations.
  14. I'm genuinely curious because I can't recall any off the top of my head, but how many owners announce that they are going to sell the team only to, months later, announce that they aren't going to sell? Wouldn't be the first time Arte has overvalued something.
