  1. Trout should be hitting in the second spot. Statistically, more men on base for the two hole than the three hitter. Also I believe the spot comes up more often than the third hitter during the game. Small statistical advantage but apparently exists. Keith Law wrote an article about this and cited Tom tango et. al and their breakdowns in the book" the Book: Playing the Percentages in Baseball. "
  2. Also with regards to the double plays, this staff is (or is supposed to be) a fly ball oriented group in order to take advantage of our remarkable outfielders.
  3. I think it's interesting how we as a society (or mini-society) are so willing to cast blame. Why is that? Couldn't it be that the sum of the parts just doesn't work? Why has Scioscia lost his ability to lead and coach? Why have we assumed that DiPoto is "to blame"? Perhaps Arte's will to market is the real culprit. A reason in which he overrules his GM because he wants to "make a splash." Perhaps after Hamilton, Moreno said to DiPoto that there wasn't much money left in the budget and get what you can and we'll worry about additions later. I dunno, I guess that the simple fact is that NOBODY here knows the answer and this rampant speculation only serves to cast negative lights upon everybody in the organization, completely devoid of facts or logic. All of the negativity gets really tiring and I wonder about the ultimate purpose or benefit of this incessant collective negative narrative. Maybe we shouldn't watch anymore.
  4. Good find. I think it's fascinating that a pitch that is so "old" was found again, whether by accidental discovery or legend. That pitch last night was filthy, but oddly beautiful. Almost inspired hope in me for this team. Everybody in the bullpen should learn that pitch. And, of course, how to throw it for a strike.
  5. Corona, CA (can someone edit the "Your" in the thread title? Thanks.)
