  1. My point was that he never had prolonged stretches were he couldnt hit. He was always consistent...when he did heat up, it was usually by hitting the liners that were doubles to being over the fence. But, never in the 11 years where I had the pleasure of watching him did I see him go in to a prolonged funk and then catch fire. That was never him. Now...the person who could get hot and carry the team...Jimmy Edmonds. I'm sure Angels fans will hate this, but Jimmy Hollywood was simply awesome.
  2. No, he wasnt. He was known for his consistent excellence. In his time w/ the Cardinals, he carried the team for lengths at a time not because he was hot, but rather because he was the most consistent hitter in the game. He may have turned the 2B into HR's, but he was always a constant threat. This season he seems to not be that at all.
  3. As a Cardinals fan...it was a sad day when AP decided to leave and go to the Angels. I knew that the contract length and the dollars meant the Cardinals just couldnt match that and shouldnt. However, I never thought his decline would be so severe and so quick. I thought he'd put up similar numbers as he did in 2012 for 3-4 more years and then steadily decline. I never thought I'd see AP with an OPS below .800 this soon. I still love the guy, but glad he isnt a Cardinal anymore.
  4. Sure...no one knew what was on the table, or even if there were any. My point was (and Scott T alluded to it as well) Bourjos hasnt done a whole lot to warrant him being able to bring back a decent return on a trade. That was my only point. I also think 'shaking things up' is one of the last gasps of a dying team in a downward tailspin.
  5. A good loss? Please tell me you're kidding? That's a losers mentality... Has it gotten so bad that fans are now taking solace in loss that arent blowouts? If that's the case...the team really is doomed. We, as fans, have to expect more.
  6. I agree with you completely...that may have been a reason (and still may be a reason). Dipoto should be smart enough to know you dont sell low when you are desperate.
  7. two turn the pages... one tip the cap... ball comin' out of the hand real well... Awesome...
  8. I have a feeling (completely unstubstantiated) that if Bourjos could have yielded a good, young arm with lots of upside/potential...he would already have been traded. Maybe, just maybe, he isnt worth that.
  9. you should have just stopped after laughably bad. at what is irrelevent since the answer is most everything.
  10. Pitching is a serious problem, but so is the offense. Starting pitching is weak and the bullpen is also weak (for the most part). Offense has been ineffective...poor plate approach, lack of production from the 3-4 hitters and not a lot from the 8-9th. But, the real issue is that this team was built to outslug opponents...knowing that if their pitching could be league average, Angels would win. However, reality is that the pitching has been much worse than league average and the offense that was supposed to outproduce opponents is actually flawed. I never understood the theory behind outslugging opponents...great pitching wins in October. It's one of the oldest axioms in baseball for a simple reason...it's true. The pitching wasnt, isnt and will not be good enough to win in October.
  11. gotta admit...I usually get a kick out of the Super Fan Tough Guy threads... They usually deliver.
  12. a bad day at the ballpark is still better than a good day at work... Sounds like something Yogi Berra would have said.
  13. which means...not much improvement to the starting pitching, which IMO is a big issue.
  14. I cant imagine a greater level of futility than being swept by the Astros... I dont see how there could be a lower point than that during the season...well, unless the Angels end up with the worst record in the AL.
  15. Things are not looking promising...
  16. so..by keeping Sosh...this will ensure the team sucks and gets the top draft pick. Do I have this right?
  17. It means that we know nothing about Sosh working with Conger. Based on your previous post, you mentioned it must be torture being managed by him, especially catchers which then lead you to assume he's somehow screwed up Conger. All of which is total and complete conjecture with absolutely no basis in fact...in this case, our knowledge of the above is none. We know nothing and postulating it is all Sosh's fault is just sour grapes because of your obvious disdain for Sosh.
  18. My reading comprehensive is good. "For all we know"...which in all of our cases regarding this is nothing. Nice of you to try to put a disclaimer on something you're trying to sell as fact.
  19. what a complete and uttler load of bull*(&%. You make assumption after assumption, all of which are totally unfounded. We get it...you hate the Manager, but your reasons are based on conjecture and thin air
  20. so..how much cap tipping will go on? If someone tips Conger's cap...make sure it covers his mouth in hopes it sufficates him.
  21. Wonder how bad it will get towards the end of the contract for AP? Bad in terms of fan support, or lack thereof...it isnt going to be pretty.
  22. Even I'm a bit stunned...the Astros are terrible. And, if that is the case, what does that say about CJ Wilson.
  23. CJ Wilson is just not a very good pitcher. He doesnt fool a lot of hitters, does he.
  24. It pains me to see AP....he's a shadow of his former self.
