I recall people equating K-Rod to Fernando Valenzuela, because he was so young, and no one knew who he was or how to hit him. K-Rod was pretty much un-hit-able in that 02 post season. The swings and misses to his slider, many not even close to the baseball.
His footwork is flawless. He makes it look so easy, making a difficult play look easy. Athleticism, footwork, length, body control, and strong arm, his defense is on par with Ozzie's Smith acrobatic plays.
I can imagine how many put out he will have to as a cut off man, with his cannon of an arm. He is going to save a lot of runs for this team defensively.
replaceable bull shit , yeah, tell that to the Angels a couple of years ago. Then Jerry pulls off a trade that was ridiculed by Angels fans that he gave up to much... They made the playoffs last year, could had made it again if Street was healthy this year. You think the red sox thought it was easily replaceable , when they have to mortgage a good portion of their team for a closer. Once K Rod left, the Angels were ****ed in the late innings. If it was so easily replaceable then they could had brought it without giving up something valuable.
Marion
wrong
Street closing skills kept this worthless team in contention last season. If it wasn't for street, the Angels are a pathetic last place. Having a guy to close the door is imperative. Unless you like Ernasty blowing saves left and right. You think the Yankee miss Rivera. If you don't think closing the late inning isn't important, well the mets got ****ed in the ws because of it
. This isn't Earl Weavers old teams. Baseball has changed. Enough of the big swing and miss power hitters. We have enough power on this team. Let's get guys who make contact, get on base. I'm sick of ****ing strike outs, double plays, dead pull hitters. You build around Trout, get him some ****ing help. Set up the table for trout ! dammit!
You have to give up something to get something. Angels got themselves a defensive SS wizard. Yes , he will be valuable for this club, but to give up a top arm in your farm system can get you fired down the road. Billy boy better hope that Newcomb sucks
There are only few positions I would over spend for, and one of them is for a closer. They are invaluable and imperative for a shot at a championship. This is why Jerry deal to bring in Street was a keeper.
I'm actually an advocate of going a new direction. Aybar wasn't a clutch player. I still remember that miss squeeze play @ boston. Stupid sosh but that's another issue. His antics off the field, he seem to be immature, to laxed to me, when this organization has been choking or sucking the last 6 years. It's time to have a culture shift, bring in some new blood. Sosh is to laid back to instill urgency into this squad, let's rid of the slackers (back to the future) and get some self motivated players ala the 2002 team.
