  1. If they had any kind of pitching they'd have already won this series and probably taken 2 out of 3 against Oakland. They'd have still lost that first Texas series. 5-4 vs 2 teams that finished ahead of you the year before. Wouldn't be too shabby.
  2. 14 out of 15 in team ERA in the AL, and after tonight they'll have given up the most walks in all of baseball.
  3. I hate arguing with fans who cite sabremetrics. It just seems like it's a bunch of hogwash divided by more hogwash in attempt to see what random numbers and comparisons opposing fans can pull out of their asses to make their team look better.
  4. Not that I expected to win this game, but Jesus I didn't expect it to look like one of those spring training scrimmages when the AAA plays the ML team...
  5. It's like Butcher has never ever told these guys about the importance of not walking batters. Think of Mickey Hatcher in reverse...
  6. I think Mickey Mantle's quote was something like "I'd see three baseballs and just swing at the one in the middle"
  7. You ever listen to Joe Buck do a football game?
  8. He's alright, but I prefer the "Wonder Dog"
  9. If the pitching staff get can their ish together, I'd say yes. That's a huge if though...
  10. Every stat in some way is flawed. That being said, I believe WHIP is a better indication of how well a pitcher is pitching as opposed to ERA.
  11. I was at the game on Monday. I was in 229 and maybe saw 2 to 3 dozen. It seemed like the majority of them weren't even paying attention to the game, just trying to troll and incite people. They all seemed like they were rip-roaring drunk too. Everything is bigger in Texas, outside of alcohol tolerance.
  12. Efren Navarro deserves a shot.
  13. I say this without looking up anything to back it up, but I'd say it's been better so far than last year at this point.
  14. They should've already won the series without breaking a sweat.
  15. Something about Jimenez. He has a certain resolve. Hopefully they keep him around.
  16. It's almost comical how inept this team is.
  17. Could you imagine where this franchise would be right now without Trout?
  18. Don't walk guys. First thing you're taught in little league. WTF Butcher?
  19. Unreal. How many different ways can this team lose? Just utterly unreal.
  20. Sure lets walk 2 guys to get to Cabrera and Fielder. What could go wrong? Sigh...
  21. Is there a reason he started off at AA, despite hitting a respectable .282 at AAA the year before? I hope I'm wrong, but seems like a red flag to me...
  22. P's Mark Sappington (mentioned earlier) Michael Roth (made it to the majors, looked solid) C's Zach Wright (.361 OBP, throwing out 30% of runners) 1B's Michael Snyder (.316/.374/.503, 27 doubles in 81 games) Wade Hinkle (.333./.445/.575, 49 walks in 294 at bats) 2B's Alex Yarbrough (.282 AVG) - got off to a slow start in terms of power. Has improved his power and OBP vastly thus far this season for the 66ers. Contact hitter. Worth keeping an eye on. Sherman Johnson (.266/.417/.385, 56 walks in 64 games) Other areas might need to improve but he obviously has a really good eye. OF's Jonathan Walsh (.300/.411/.522, 29 extra base hits in 64 games, just as many BB's and K's) Kyle Johnson (.321/.424/..486, contact hitter type, never been caught stealing in 16 attempts) Joel Capote (.328/.421/.486, not too shabby for a 28th rounder) Seems like they really got away from the hacking types and are trying to develop an organization with hitters who take pitches. This is a solid draft considering they didn't have a pick in the top 100 nor did they really catch a guy by and large considered a "steal". It's still early but the hitting stats these guys are putting up are encouraging.
