It's not his fault that he was signed, and I am not saying that Blanton is the reason he should be fired. Conversely, can you name a reason why he should keep his gig? The success of Rodney, Santana, and even Kazmir after leaving his watch is a ringing indictment to me. Lets not even mention the team's pitching rankings so far this year. I know, injuries, minor leaguers blah blah blah...I think (my opinion) that they need a new voice in there. What the hell could it hurt?
I don't buy into the argument about post-Angels doing well, but you could certainly find ample evidence that many players left the team and INITIALLY began to perform. Many of them, however, fizzed out after a short while. Haren is not doing so hot; about what we had from him last year. Rodney is starting to come down to Earth. Kazmir? Really? It's been two years since any team wanted him. Santana is the lone exception and he is a head case, so not surprised he's having a good year; next year he'll suck again.
Having said that, I can't defend the job JD has done; nor can I defend our staff. I don't know of another AVAILABLE pitching coach that could work miracles with our pitching. Do you?

Kendrick, Trout, Trumbo, Ianetta, Frieri, Conger...they may not be perfect, but they are playing fairly well. Unfortunately, they are the minority. I'd put Williams in there after his last outing, but he's inconsistent.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I don't know how much longer it will go on, but I do know that Frieri is the only positive I can see coming from JD's tenure, thus far. I guess Vargas has been just OK and Hansen has been a pleasant surprise....when he pitches.

And BTW, how the **** does Butcher not get fired at least????
And how is it Butcher's fault that JD signed Blanton? Is Butcher supposed to turn that pile of steaming crap into a quality arm?
It's the same broken record all the time and I'm not hearing a response to why Butcher is directly responsible for the guys JD brought to the team this season. I'm sure Butcher was jumping for joy when he heard about Blanton.

We pretty much got Wells for a few more years. It's really annoying. I'm sick of watching guys across the league get big deals then do absolutely nothing. I wish there was no guaranteed money in baseball. It's bullshit
We need to transition baseball to an NFL model: instant replay, free agency, and salary caps for the teams.

I'll state it for you, if that makes you feel better. However, Haren pitched great for us the majority of his time here.

Oh wheww, it's like we've all been saying so far "Why isn't Josh Hamilton swinging?"
Lol

I'm just OK with this. Problem is, we really need to sweep some of these teams if there's any chance of being in the playoffs. Just maintaining an attitude of winning each series may not be enough given the hole we've dug ourselves into.
-
Yeah, his novelty has warn off. But how about Aybar try to stay healthy for two weeks at a time?
-
Jerome did well, as well as CJ tonight. Both guys gave the offense a chance to win it. Can't help but think moving Hamilton down further would be a good thing.

I love how Scioscia gets any blame for taking him out "early" according to some posters, since if he's left him in and blown the lead, people would be all over Scioscia for leaving him in there too long. Scioscia may be not perfect, but on this forum, he also can't win.
This previous post was deleted by a Mod. I'd love to know why.

You must not have been following when Pujols was signed.
OK, we'll just take our cues from you, next time, because you follow the story and we don't.

After reading the article, it sounds like Rivera was the dick first. Joba could have handled it better yes, but so could Rivera. And since Rivera is the veteran star, he probably should have said it less dick-like.
Whether you have a legitimate issue with him or not, you never go public. Never go full retard.
-
Joba sounds like a real jerk.
-
Why bother, we aren't making the playoffs. Sorry to be a kill joy.

3 saves in the last 3 games for Frieri. Absolutely.

Chuck, are you wearing sunglasses at night?

Who's the couple next to Lasorda who seem to love this Psy clown?
Douches, both.

He came up with a big HR tonight, but other than that hit, his offense has been bad too (before tonight's game .237/.281/.356/..637)
I recall him having a couple of clutch hits, but perhaps I'm mistaken.

As usual, and from the usual suspects, there's some serious vitriol on here. Must be real fun knowing some of you folks personally.
Willie and mt nailed it. I think there's room for middle ground. It's OK to decide to do something other than watch this disappointing team each evening without being considered a band wagon fan.
OK, Apologists, let's hear it

Yep, LT, I was making a play on words; using the wrong homograph, just like the poster did. Sorry you didn't get it.
