  1. I don't know if they have an impact or not. All I know is, if I were trying really, really hard (now stay with me here) to fix the pitching...and still getting the results we are seeing game after game, I'd be a little stressed and maybe think about it while trying to sleep. One thing is for sure, I wouldn't be so glib about it when speaking with the media and that's the point. It's very telling. Look, I have defended Butcher for a while now, but this makes it harder to do. You don't lounge around in your easy chair with the house on fire. What I don't understand is how his comment can be defended. There's just no defense for saying something so damn stupid.
  2. I hope so. That, and Madsen, would help. Problem is, our BP gets taxed heavily because starts can't get to the 7th inning and that really needs to change.
  3. If that's true, the part about you criticizing when appropriate, then how come you had zero problem with Butcher's comment? What more does he have to say to concern you? Does he have to come right out and say that he has no idea how to fix the pitching and nothing he is doing is working? What would it take? "I have zero stress, man -- none," Butcher said. "I come here, do my job, and I sleep like a baby at night." http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130417&content_id=45071556&notebook_id=45089510&vkey=notebook_ana&c_id=ana
  4. Ever start a new job and have trouble fitting in, especially with a bunch of egomaniacs on staff? I think this is what we are seeing.
  5. This is true. The pitching was supposed to be mediocre, but not a fatal flaw in the team. I'll give you that. I think this month may end up being a repeat of last April, in which case I'll be watching fewer games and attending none. I want to support the team, but I don't want to walk out of the stadium feeling ripped off, either.
  6. I know it's bad, but how can it be more of a disappointment that the offense we are paying out the arse for? And right now they are just sitting there on four runs and doing squat.
  7. I posted something similar in another thread, where I also tried to stay positive after taking the series from Houston, and got attacked from all directions for it, including from a Mod. Apparently, it's not acceptable to make observations about others' faulty logic...or you have to be one of the special posters who are immune to such criticism.
  8. The offense, there's absolutely no doubt that it's worse. The reason for this is because we KNEW in the off season how awful our starting rotation was. The old board was replete with posts commenting on the joke of signing Blanton and Hansen. This resulted in Dipoto getting Hamilton to offset mediocre pitching. Unfortunately, the starting pitchers are who we thought they were, but the offense is not. This is not the offense we expected.
  9. Unbelievable. You people KNEW the pitching was awful going in. You KNEW the offense would have to score 6+ runs every freaking game. Now you act surprised and astounded that our new pitchers are who we thought they were in the off season? Talk about short term memory..
  10. Go after other posters? You really think I'm that bad, just picking fights? Wow. I have seen what some others do here (eg, Lifetime) and can't see how. It would be nice if there was not a double-standard. Apparently it's perfectly OK for some of you to go all out and biatch, whine, attack others personally vs. attack their arguments, but if it's someone you don't hang out with at your fanfests, then it's not acceptable. Reminds me of junior high behavior.
  11. You should try reading the numerous posts I have made this week across multiple threads in the forum. Since you are a mod, I'm sure you have that ability.
  12. "Too bad the failos who were here for the first week are not any longer. It's amazing how many of them only login and post to complain when we lose and yet do absolutely nothing to further any baseball conversation when we win. I used to read and post on the old board and I see the same names here consistently posting; however, it's the same old story with the whiners: they show up only when we lose. As a supporter of the team, win or lose, I see this as a turn-around since taking this series was a necessity. Pujols is back to his norms, Trout is heating up again and smiling, Hamilton is starting to rake, and our bull pen is getting it's head out of it's arse...credit goes to Butcher if you are willing to fire him when things don't go well. All in all, it's a good thing this is happening just ten days into the season vs. all month long like last year. I might be eating crow if we don't win another series for a while, but I'm betting we are a competitive team at this point."
  13. LMAO, again. How tempermental. You'll need to grow some thicker skin, my boy.
  14. I just remember when Fuentes did that to A-ROID in a pivotal game some years ago. He was 0-2 in the count and gave him a meatball right down the middle, which ended up in the standards behind Hunter.
  15. You need to read entire posts and not just the first sentence. The comment you are referring to was NOT the first one I made in response to Chuck's thread topic. The previous comments were all positive, as was the second half of my most recent comment. Get a clue and read the entire thread before jumping on the bandwagon with Reno and Tennischump.
  16. I love it. Now they know who they are and come out of the wood work. I didn't mention a single name...not one. Too many members of this forum post venom when the team is losing (e.g., fire Scioscia, fire Butcher, etc) and awful things were said about Jerome Williams last season. Those posters certainly thought they were absolutely justified. I never said I was superior; I merely observed how interesting it is when they vomit out criticism and then never show their faces when they are proven wrong when the team performs well. If you want to bash me because you think I'm "such a good fan" then go ahead. It's a message board. I'll try to live it down.
  17. Then you'll need to go back to my post and see if I made fun of anybody. I didn't.
