  1. ST is too long this year (thanks to the WBC). There's 3 1/2 more weeks of this crap.
  2. Easy win over the Bucks (117-101). Blake Griffin got his third career triple-double (23-11-11). Tomorrow will be a tough game in Denver.
  3. I'll be the first to post (in this thread) "Wells to the Yankees".
  4. I just saw this update on MLBTR. I don't know if it's true, but even if it's true, I still agree with what the Angels did. Quick Hits: Trout, Happ, ChavezBy Charlie Wilmoth [March 6 at 12:08am CST] The Angels' $510K renewal of Mike Trout's contract for 2013 has made minor news this week. Now FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that Trout's agent, Craig Landis, has suggested his client wanted a $1M contract for 2013. Since Trout is a pre-arbitration eligible player and does not have a long-term deal, the Angels were not obligated to pay him any more than the league minimum salary of $490K, despite Trout's exceptional 2012 performance. One source tells Rosenthal the Angels did not negotiate the deal at all. Another tells him that the Angels initially offered Trout a contract of more than $510K, but Trout did not accept it, and the Angels gave him the $510K contract as punishment. In any case, as Rosenthal suggests, the mini-controversy over Trout's 2013 salary will quickly vanish into history if the two sides can agree on a long-term deal. And, of course, salaries near the league minimum are routine for pre-arbitration eligible players, even spectacular ones. Here are more notes from around the majors. http://mlbbuzz.yardbarker.com/blog/mlbbuzz/article/more_details_on_trout/13063279?new_post=true
  5. I'll admit that I wasn't concerned before today's game and I'm still not concerned. If they lost today, I probably would've been concerned.
  6. I recently signed up for MLB.com at Bat. I like it. I don't know anything about the others that you listed.
  7. The Clippers made a big comeback to take the lead late in the game, but they couldn't put out the win against OKC. Too many turnovers killed them. They'll bounce back and win easily against the Milw. Bucks on Tue.
  8. Jose Mota posts here? I'd love that! I think you're thinking of Rojas. Mota has never posted here (unless "Halo Thunder" is really Jose Mota).
  9. Yeah. It's the complete opposite of last Sunday's game so far. I think that game lasted over 4 hours.
  10. Yeah, I'm sure Dipoto is very happy that the trade didn't go through.
  11. Trumbo made a bad read on the ball, but he almost got it.
  12. I hate it when that happens. Terrible base running.
  13. Yeah. For his sake, I hope he keeps the weight off. However, it will probably be a lot like the Bobby Wilson and Jepsen weight losses. His weight will come back shortly after he goes back to his previous diet/habits.
  14. He looked a lot like 2012 Santana right there.
  15. It could create a Ryan Howard type of situation in Trout's first arb. eligible year (if he's not signed to a long term contract before that). In Howard's rookie year, he made 355 K. Then, the Phillies gave him 900K. In his first arb. eligible year (2008), he got 10 M. In his second arb. year, he got 15 M. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/howarry01.shtml Trout is going to make a ton of money in the very near future.
  16. They'll probably hit .500 in June, but stay over .500 in July for the rest of the year and should stay over .500 forever.
  17. Rockies Sign Bobby Cassevah By Tim Dierkes [March 2 at 10:13pm CST] The Rockies signed righty Bobby Cassevah to a minor league deal, MLBTR has learned. The 27-year-old will report to Major League camp tomorrow. Cassevah had been outrighted off the Angels' 40-man roster on Thursday, after which he elected free agency. He spent most of 2012 at Triple-A, where he posted a 6.22 ERA, 5.4 K/9, 3.7 BB/9, and 0.58 HR/9 in 46 1/3 relief innings. Prior to the 2011 season, Baseball America ranked Cassevah 24th among Angels prospects, noting that he "may be the most extreme groundball pitcher in the minors."
