  1. That means he will be healthy in time for the playoffs!
  2. Take Franklin to Los Feliz to the 5 to the 110. It shouldn't take 45 minutes.
  3. I guess we're getting our $500K worth. Angels should be ashamed when they are paying Blanton $7.5M.
  4. No. 4.50 is the UPPER BOUND. A Quality Start could be much better than that. People have looked at this and determined that when a team gets a Quality Start they are likely to win more than 65% of the time.
  5. Sure, except he did not give up 4-6 runs every time out. Maybe that's is average, but he's had a couple of good outings. He's had 3 quality starts. I am not saying the guy is great, but he's not necessarily a loss every time out despite his record.
  6. They did win his last start. Here are the scores in the games he started: W 12-9 L 11-4 L 3-1 L 5-1 L 3-2 L 7-6 L 8-2 L 11-5 L 5-4 A few of those were winnable if the offense and/or bullpen had done better.
  7. I am going to give you one piece of advice to enjoy your time in LA: Rent a car. For real. Do it. It will be hard to do very much in LA without a car. As for what else is to do... have you been to Oregon or Washington before? I ask this because you said you have never been to California. If you have never seen the Pacific coast, then go see it. Maybe Laguna Beach or Palos Verdes plus something less scenic, but more representative of SoCal like Manhattan Beach or Santa Monica.
  8. The problem isn't signing guys over 30 or even paying them top dollar. The problem is the length of the contracts. If you can't get them on a 3 year contract then forget it and move on. These 5+ year contracts have to stop for guys in their 30's.
  9. Why do we care about Texas? Let's get back to .500 before worrying about standings.
  10. What can they do, though? No one will take Pujols. Hamilton has a more friendly contract but not how he is playing. There's no way to improve the roster except to take on more salaries. Angels will have a $200M payroll and still be fighting for a wildcard.
  11. I think the team will finish about .500. Weaver will come back, Hamilton will play at least somewhat better, and the team will find a rhythm. They won't sniff the playoffs, though. The team turned it around last year after adding Trout and Greinke. I don't see something like that happening again. Getting Weaver back (assuming he can pitch to form) will be huge, though.
  12. It would help a lot if our $25M dollar guys started hitting like even $5M dollar guys.
  13. Blanton started so he didn't have to try hard to find one.
  14. To me the worst part is trading prospects for rentals or guys with bad contracts. It's one thing to trade them to get Greinke, but it's quite another if Greinke isn't under contract (or under a good contract). Trading Napoli was probably okay. Trading him for Wells wasn't. The Angels traded a lot of guys away with nothing to show for it.
  15. This. Aybar can't set the table. Switch Trout back to leadoff.
  16. Weaver and Hanson being out is huge. The rotation would suck even if the big signing had been Greinke instead of Blanton. I think Jerome Williams should be starting, though. Why stick with Enright after his first start?
  17. Yes, and in 4-5 years they may get a player out of it to replace Hamilton.
  18. Don't worry. The offense will help carry the mediocre pitching.
  19. Stop trading prospects/young players for free-agents-to-be and guys with terrible contracts like Wells.
