  1. Remember when those guys had a combined record of 8-17 as managers?

    Like right now ?

Or like being in 4th Place, last place and last place, LOL.  They are a hot group!  Throw in Scioscia, and you have a combined record of 10-23 - nice.

  2. Leaving early isn't a crime folks.  I don't have school age children at home anymore, but if I did the length of the last two games would be brutal on school days.  I go to about 80% of the home games, and I've seen a lot of kids the last two nights around me who should be going to school the next day.  Fortunately most of their parents are responsible and leave before it gets too late.  Also some people don't want to extend their night beyond certain limits because they have other obligations the next day.  Just because a fan may only go for 3 innings doesn't make them less of a fan than one who sits there all night, especially if the one who is there all night is drunk, and a vulgar critic.

Drinking beyond your capacity, and then plunging into your car to drive home is deadly as we all know.  That is a crime, and one of my big beefs about baseball fans.  It still happens far, far too often.

  3. FF, I respect your posts, but you really do yourself a disservice by using the term "apologist"

All that does is take away from the point of your post and puts it on those who do not agree

with your opinion. (which I don't necessarily disagree with)

Right on Lou!  It totally undercuts his posts.

  4. I don't think they will change the manager's position in-season unless this turns into a complete disaster.  That seems like giving up at this point, it would be totally disruptive and divisive.  We have played three teams who are perhaps much better constructed than the Angels, and they have beaten us in the those three series.  I swear that the A's could beat anyone in baseball right now the way they are placing hits all over the field.  Until we have a more complete sample of this season (couple of months) we have what we have, and we should see if it blooms into anything productive.  Anything else seems like panic, and chaos follows panic.

  5. At this point it's rather irrelevant to me whether Mike Scioscia should get fired or not.  When players with these credentials play like this there is not a manager on this planet who will get them to win.  It's pretty easy to blame just about anyone in this organization for this start, including DiPoto, Scioscia, the coaches, and virtually all of the players.  I might even be inclined to blame Arte for meddling with the construction of the players on the team (even though he has every right to do so).  I could even blame the fans for constantly crying about certain players, and wanting changes to be made every fifteen minutes, eliminating any consistency or stability.

The organization will get to the firing, trading, releasing stuff soon enough (probably real soon at this rate).  Until then I don't plan to let it eliminate my interest in baseball, or snuff out any hope that this team as currently constructed can find answers to their problems.

  7. Wasn't the same without him last night, I gave him a big round of applause when they showed his picture at the game.  The guy had such a smooth unique voice for announcing, he was part of the Angel Stadium experience.  He will be sorely missed.

Yep, I agree.  It will take me quite some time to get used to the new guy.

Mark68's 5 game points winning streak came to an end today, but he is solidly in first place alone after the opening road trip.  Wish we could have said the same regarding the Angels.  Hope to see you all at opening night on Tuesday!
