This is funny.  I was at today's game, and sitting behind the Angels on deck circle.  When Callaspo came up on his first AB I told my wife "this guy looks heavy, big around the middle, butt and upper legs."  He wins the award for most out of shape at this point.

Josh was pretty loose today.  On his third AB he took Trumbo's bat away from him on the on deck circle (this was after Trumbo tripled with it), and flew out to center.  Then Trumbo cracked it in his AB following Josh. 

At times, yes.  Sometimes it's pretty fast.

Oh, that's how that works. I'll still head to the main practice field as always. 

By the way, Wells looks like he is the same playing weight he had in Toronto, and ever since he's been here to me.  If he weighs more it's probably because he is just older, and some creep up comes easily as you age.

Well boys this is a really interesting thread.  I've been at Spring Training since Saturday morning.  I'll continue to be here until Wednesday evening.  I've read this entire thread, let me tell you not much is going on yet that's very serious.  I have yet to see Wells on one of the practice fields below the stadium, or any other veteran player of note for that matter unless they are hiding them in some mysterious corner of this joint.  VegasMike must have some special pass to get into the stadium early in the morning where the veterans work out.  Most fans don't get into the stadium earlier than 11:30 or so.  I was at the Saturday and Sunday game behind home plate, great view.  As Wallerr stated he did hustle on the base paths on Saturday.  He appears to me to be trying to hit everything up the middle of the field, as he supposedly worked on in his off season drills.  That's how he singled on Saturday, up the middle, and off the shortstop's diving attempt. 

 

So far this is just a rookie fest, and some sloppy rookie play.  The first two innings on Sunday took almost an hour to play, and the wind chill wasn't pleasant.  Most impressive to me is the play of Conger, and I've enjoyed watching Cowart (he looks pretty professional and unflappable to me, but at times a little awkward in the field).  In many ways Spring Training in February is silly, it is just way too early, and all it takes is a little slip and you loose a veteran starter for a few months - see Granderson's story.

 

I don't know how vegasmike covers this place so thoroughly, he must walk a lot faster than I do.  I wish I could figure out how to post photos on this site, I have some great ones of Blantana chatting and hanging out at the corner of the main practice field with fans and an older coach I didn't know.  He must really work over his goatee, makes him look like Abraham Lincoln without a beard. 

 

I wouldn't and couldn't gain any impressions worth a hoot so far about how players are performing, this would be silly as far as I am concerned.  I should see Hamilton tomorrow at the game, I understand he is starting.  Now I'm going back to see what I can do about photos.  Have a nice night arguing about Wells.

He could be our Tony Gwynn.  Except he's white and pitches.

And let's hope he doesn't turn into the blimp Tony did after he left baseball.

There is no questioning the attitude, just how much ability he has left in his tank.  

He looked almost as bad as Calhoun.

I guess you didn't see the Calhoun catch a few innings later against the wall.  I was at the game, Calhoun is a scrappy player.  He might not have the ability to make the bigs, but he really hustles.

That would be the greatest shock in Angels news in 52 years.

I'm a Wood fan for life, the kid is a hard worker and not a quitter.  He's also a genuinely nice person.  He doesn't let the constant bashing get him down, and he believes in himself.  What's not to like about those traits?  Good luck Brandon!  

Where is KazmirsDeadArm?  We need an expert opinion.

I leave for Spring Training tomorrow, and will be there Saturday for the first pitch.  I'll try for some photos and reports.  We had to go early this year as we are doing a cruise at the end of March, and hopefully the toilets work on the ship.  Unfortunately we will miss the big party.  We are going to the first four games.

Yeah, sometimes it seems to hang.  I get impatient then hit it again and it responds pretty promptly the second time (sometimes).

Okay, I appreciate the help in getting the Game Day Prediction Rules Stickied and posted.  However, I will also need to have the ability to edit them, mainly because we have a lot of smart guys who always seem to find loopholes in the rules.  Can I be listed as the author so that I can make edits from time to time?

 

The way this worked on the old forum was that I could unlock the Stickied (or Pinned) rules thread, make the edits then relock it.

See thread above for the 2013 Game Day Prediction Rules.  I have it on my computer as a Word File, and when I transferred it over the spacing got out of wack.  Probably because my original file wasn't paced very well.  In any event, I realligned it.  I forgot how to stickey this, can one of you smarter guys stickey it for me so it can be easily accessed throughout the season?  Or perhaps tell me how to stickey it.

I'm here, and this is great.  Took me 10 minutes to get my avatar over here, but it works.  Anybody know if there is an announcements section like the old forum had? I want to paste up the Game Day Prediction rules for 2013, and they need to be somewhere anyone can easily access them at any time.
