My only point is that baseball is so over analyzed that it kind of destroys the experience. Every little twitch and movement is commented on, sometimes over and over again. I guess the analysts feel they have to comment on all of these things, that's what they are paid to do - talk. Baseball is so detailed driven it lends itself to that. It can be a little bit of a break just to go to the game, and not have it force fed to you by TV or radio. Then again there are plenty of amateur analysts at the game who like to comment in the stands, and their analysis is far worse than the radio and TV guys. My favorite this year was some guy explaining to a non baseball person how batting averages work, and their significance. I won't go into details, but he was no math major, he couldn't get the decimal point right on anything, plus he had the scoring rules completely bastardized.
This message board is part of the over analyzing. We are down in the trees a lot here, when a better perspective should be taken by studying the forest.
I think you are a golfer Bruce, and so am I. It's easy in that game as well to get sucked into little details that really don't help you improve your game. Then you have to step back and simplify.

Hate is a terrible thing, it will destroy your mind and lead you to destruction.

I'm not asking for in depth analysis. I am asking for any discussion of the team at a level above "release point" and "turning your hips".
What is there to discuss beyond that, I'm curious? Give me an example.

Six more errors by the Tigers would help. They must have a lame manager and coaches, the GM brought in the wrong personnel, and the owner meddles too much, LOL.

Make Gubi the pitching coach. Nobody watching the game cares about his nightly nine inning coaching clinics. Maybe some of the players would be interested.
I can't ever recall a "color commentator" more focused on the trees than the forest.
After Hambone's ridiculous bad streak last week, Scioscia finally moves him to seventh in the order.
Rojas: We haven't discussed this yet, Hamilton has been moved to seventh in the batting order.
Gubi: Hamilton is a career .333 hitter from the seventh position!!
That constitutes 'analysis' for our team.
Do you really think baseball requires in depth analysis? It's not rocket science. Besides we have the internet to do baseball analysis.

Why stop at the shirt, order the official program, hat, leather jacket, and DVD.

Is there a trophy for whatever division has the best record?

Wednesday came early.

Ya it's kinda odd when he's said to be throwing 100 mph or so.
It's not odd if his ball doesn't move. MLB hitters can adjust to any speed.

Pujols 1-4, 1 run

Wins and losses are not so important right now, it's the development of the individual players, or non-development. This is a great opportunity to experiment, and try some new things with our younger guys.

Or maybe he's an Adam Dunn with good wheels, and a glove.

you lost me at "bleacher report" and "article"

Roth (ERA 9.00/14.0 innings), Lowe (ERA 9.26/11.2 innings), and Enright (ERA 12.96/8.1 innings). Roth is not ready, but has time. Lowe and Enright may be done.

When he does a press conferences the reporters ask the questions from their knees.
In night games they install bullet proof glass in the light covers for protection.
He never turns the page, he's too busy filling it.
When he leaves his feet to catch a ball, he turns the his cap around, as he leaves the ground, to protect the bill.
He can catch anything in the outfield, but sometimes the other outfielders ask for permission to take this one.
Third base coaches don't wave him home, they back up to stay out of the jet stream.
(I love these threads, we should do more of them. Also the limerick thread is a good one too.)

You got that right 19HALO71. Any kind of baseball is better than no baseball.

To my knowledge the teams do not have anything to do with the testing. It's between the league offices and the players union. The team would only be contacted if there is a problem requiring investigation or punishment.

Attendance at yesterday's game listed as 35k. That means what, 8,000 empty seats?
Yeah, right.
Those attendance figures (3 mil fans) are about as accurate as a post-game Mike Scioscia quote.
You're missing something, that's the paid attendance not the number of fans sitting in seats. Teams always list the paid attendance.

As a SSH I sit within eyes view of his suite. I have noticed that the last several games its closed. Discuss.
Seriously, maybe they are remodeling it.

Yes, his nephew's friend and a rent-a-date sat next to me on Friday night and told me he does.

I don't think the Pirates are championship material, but we are definitely inferior to them right now.

I agree that pitching is the greatest need, but catching and 3rd base are not satisfactory. There are no easy fixes.

The Angels will never do a total rebuild. They have invested way to much in the here and now. As has been mentioned elsewhere, the likely move will be to rebuild, but also try to contend now.
