  1. Berrios mediocre? That's an uninformed statement. Wow. Mediocre. The one year of control is my only concern, not his performance or ability.
  2. I think the Angels should go after someone like Berrios even if they pay more now than they may over the Winter. I just don't think the Angels will make a move. I think Minasian will do the same thing Eppler did. Hold or sell. Arte is the common denominator.
  3. This whole Berrios conversation is a moot point. Unless we go 6-1 against the Twins and the Rockies I don't see Minasian giving up what it would take to get him. And even then, probably not. But man, a rotation with Ohtani and Berrios at the top for 2022 would be better than anything we've seen since we last made the playoffs in 2014. Berrios is young, durable and getting better. Next year could be his breakout. So who will we pair with Ohtani next year at the TOR?
  4. FanGraphs has our bullpen ranked 22nd so far this season. It's hard to believe there are 8 bullpens worse than ours.
  5. Right, that was my point. Maybe it wasn't clear so I edited my post. The player could be cleared medically but doesn't feel he is ready. The reality is all three work in concert I guess.
  6. How so? I haven't seen any red flags on his BR page. I must be missing something? This is what I see in Berrios. He is a 27 year old (same age as Ohtani) who is very durable. He doesn't miss starts and has never been on the IL. He is a 32 Start/190 IP guy since 2016. He is getting better each year and could be even more valuable for a team with a six man rotation. I think he immediately becomes our #2 behind Ohtani and would give us a formidable #1 and #2 in a playoff series.
  7. Yes to all three for the last say? What if the medical staff, the player and testing don't have the same recommendation. Ultimately isn't it the player who makes the call based on how he feels after factoring in all of the other information and getting medical clearance.
  8. I don't see Canning getting anything of value in a trade this month. 1. He sucks. 2. He's injured.
  9. That's a good point. He's make it or break it next year. He did struggle tonight in Tacoma - 3.1 IP 5 H, 1 HR, 4 ER's. I still think he could end up being a really nice bullpen piece. He could be part of that rebuild if he's not a SP.
  10. It feels like September call ups will be different this year. AAA teams play through 10/3 now and the MLB rosters will only expand from 26 to 28. Teams can't bring up their whole 40 man roster any longer. Maybe I'm missing something or have bad info.
  11. He’s not serious. Baseball doesn’t work that way.
  12. If that's the case then Berrios is hedging on staying healthy with similar success through next year. Probably a good choice - he's only 27, has been very durable and is still getting better. Two other examples: First, Upton signing the extension after we acquired him in the trade. Turns out it was an amazing financial hedge for Upton. Secondly, Fletcher's new contract. I think Fletcher left some money on the table but maybe he was looking for the security now and knowing he'll only be 31 when the deal expires.
  13. I think Minasian is nothing more than Fat Eppler.
  14. We have the next 7 games against the Twins and the Rockies. Upton will be activated this week and Trout possibly this weekend or before the trade deadline next week. If we go 5-2 I don't think this team is selling.
  15. Love this move by Maddon! It's like watching one of my Son's Summer league HS games. Put the pitcher in the field when he's done pitching. Why? Because he's an athlete, not a pitcher.
