  1. I agree. Any parent who has coached their kid through little league/pony league and supported them through travel ball and into High School and then as far as the game takes them can identify with the Warren family. Very cool.
  2. I have always rooted for Taylor Ward and at this point I hope we can get something, anything, for him in a trade. I just don't see a future for him here. He's our #7 outfielder and if he's still with the team next year he'll most likely be a 28 year old MiLB player or DFA'd.
  3. Nope. Dalbeck is a first baseman. He's never played a game in the OF. Gonzalez. As we know, he can play multiple positions but has only had 9 starts in the OF this year. Jarren Durran is their 4th outfielder right now. 24 year old CF'er out of LB State. 15 HR's in AAA this year before being called up. The Red Sox would not trade Durran for Ward straight up so why would Ward be an option in Boston?
  4. Is there a true contending roster where the addition of Ward, even as a 4th outfielder, makes them better?
  5. Marte is a great addition for the A's. Damn it. It allowed them to move Laureano to Right and keep Canha in left. And it keeps Piscotty (.207) and Brown (.199) on the bench. And Billy Beane got the Marlins to pay Marte's salary because his owner wouldn't. The team I hate the most, our natural rival, got better this week.

  7. I think you are pretending he has value to any team over the next 18 hours. He was an 84 ERA+ pitcher who was demoted to AAA this month, has a history of elbow problems and is now on the IL. Who is trading for that tonight? Canning, I hope, will regroup and earn a rotation spot next year but his 2021 season is toast.
  8. Yes. If you were a GM would you trade for an average pitcher who was demoted to AAA, has a history of elbow injuries and is now on the IL in AAA?
  9. True, he's not trash, but he has absolutely zero trade value right now. He had an 84 ERA+ this year, was demoted to AAA, got lit up for 6 runs in 2 IP in his first start in SLC and went on the IL where he still resides. No team is trading for him right now...
  10. Ward? Trading for a rental because Ward is sent packing? Really? Why do some still think Ward is a viable option here? Ward will be traded because he has absolutely no value for the Angels. He is a 27 year old minor league outfielder who ranks as our #7 Outfielder. So any warm body we can get for him is worth it at this point. Even with options we don't need him clogging up the process in SLC next year.

  12. The justifying tool for guys who don't understand the complexities of the game...
  13. I've been trying to shrug off jaded since '86. Fucking Gene Mauch...
  14. Maybe Mike Napoli in 2009 or Brian Downing in 1979 but Stassi is much better defensively than either one of those guys.
  15. Had not heard that before. Do you have details? BR shows three different HS's and different USSSA travel ball ages. Did they play travel ball together?
  16. Who cares...That thing is about as accurate as the magic 8 ball.
  17. Not really. Marlins are paying Marte's salary. And Luzardo is really bad now. He had a 59 ERA+, was demoted to the pen, demoted to AAA and is struggling with Las Vegas with a 6.52 ERA and fewer than 4 IP per start. He is basically the A's Dylan Bundy but with options. Think he was no longer in the A's plans moving forward. Maybe the change of organizations will help - then again, it's the Marlins.
  18. Who said he won and he lost? It is absurd to assign winners and losers to a trade on day 1. I think the trade was good for both teams. It's in line with their current team objectives. I see why both teams would do this. If you can't, well...
  19. No, I don't think I would. But these GM's don't make decisions in black and white, it's always gray.
