  1. Hmm. Kinda stuck on how to get Trout to clear waivers when we try to send him down from Salt Lake to Anaheim.
  2. After a few sips of Blantons, I am formulating a league designation swap between Salt Lake and the major league club. Something about "technically" assigning Ohtani to AAA for the next 8 years, which is "technically" the team that plays in Anaheim, while our major league club plays in Salt Lake. I need about a half glass more to fully fill out the details. Step 1: Los Angeles Angels Baseball Club swaps leagues with the Salt Lake Bees Baseball Club Step 2: Assign Ohtani to AAA Step 3: something Step 4: something Step 5: something Step 6: something Step 7: Ohtani never becomes a free agent
  3. I realize now I should have started drinking before reading/replying to this. I apologize for my unnecessarily sober response above.
  4. What are we doing in this thread? Coming up with loopholes that don't exist in the CBA but we could still somehow exploit only in our imaginations? Okay then, I propose we sign him to a non-guaranteed contract. Imagine all the GMs of other teams..."oh man, why didn't we think of that!" Even better, let's sign him to $60m a year and just not pay him at all. Can't beat that for cleverness, eh?
  5. Also, that sandwich turned down the Qualifying Offer, so if you eat it, you lose your 2nd highest draft pick.
  6. By the way, Fangraphs ranks that sandwich just ahead of the Angels bullpen.
  7. Rule no longer exists. https://www.mlb.com/news/tracy-ringolsby-trea-turner-the-latest-prospect-to-prompt-rule-change/c-121901436 Out: The Pete Incaviglia Rule In: The Trea Turner Rule
  8. Yep, he was QO'd by the Red Sox. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/11/12-players-reject-qualifying-offers.html We spent our 2nd highest pick already on Anderson (and 500k international bonus pool). Eovaldi would cost us our third highest pick. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/11/which-draft-picks-each-team-would-forfeit-by-signing-a-qualified-free-agent-2.html
  9. Hail, Theather! A Welief Pitcher, eh? Start him out in Twiple-A.
  10. Perry to the Pirates GM: "These ARE the players you are looking for."
  11. Tatis defense baseball is not Shortstop MLB quality and he did not play one game there last season and won't when he returns. They've tried hiding him in the outfield on the injured and suspended list but is probably a DH Walmart Greeter.
  12. Well okay, but not at 8m or above. And not if Aledmys Diaz is still available.
  13. Yep, I cannot believe we're talking about 8m-12m for this Andrus, even for only a year. I guess because Velazquez was so bad at the plate, we think we have to pay this kind of money for a fairly well below league average SS.
  14. Can't wait for the "Devo the Dragon" t-shirts in the team shop.
  15. I can tell some of ya'll don't watch other teams broadcasts much. There are a lot of truly awful color analysts out there. We need WAR-like "above replacement" equivalent for broadcasters. Gubie isn't exactly Broadcasting Hall of Fame level, but he's definitely well above replacement level. He's easily top 10 in the league right now. Really. Meanwhile, if we get Victor Rojas back, we'll have MVP MVB level play-by-play again.
  16. I might start having seizures if I have to watch this for 100 pitches x 30 starts x next 3 years. Good thing is opposing hitters might also have seizures, so now that I think this through, maybe I like the signing.
  17. I'm not sure I can endure watching that goofy leg kick for an entire season.
