I would have rather seen the dh spot used to give guys a rest and to see if Cron or Green could stick up here. Although it's only 2.75m we all know scioscia loves his veterans, so Raul will probably play in the outfield more than he should.

You guys are crazy with these contract values. Didn't Darvish get something like 6/60? Darvish is a far surperior pitcher. Why would Tanaka get double? Go with the proven #3 in Garza for 5/70 and call it an offseason. Let the Yankees break the bank with this guy.

I really like this guy but his defense is terrible. Calhoun should be comparable at a fraction of the cost. If he signed for DH money then sure.

His slugging was .343 and obp was .301, I wouldn't call that good. Comparing him to Kole who hit a lot better is crazy. I'm not saying Green won't be a decent player eventually but I think Romine could replace Aybar better than Green could replace Howie. I also like the idea of trading Trumbo and splitting the dh between Cron and Green.

This season? I doubt that. Why would Oakland, one of the smartest teams in the game, trade away Green for Alberto Callaspo? Did Green even have an xbh last season? Minor league stats don't always translate.

I understand you gotta give up value to get something of value back but I think Kendrick's play would be sorely missed. Maybe the Angels should just tender Jerome and run Hanson and Blanton out there. If not for the slow start the Angels would've been a contender for a wc spot and then anything is possible.

I would've been happy with Vargas and Hughes for 16 mil total. Ubaldo is going to command a lot and he's only recently started to turn it around, Tanaka might be another dice-k, and Arroyo seems like another Blanton move. Not looking good.

Who cares if it's 4 years? This contract is easily moveable if the Royals need to move it later on. Didn't the padres just pay 8 mill for Johnson? Unfortunately the price for pitchers is just going to go up. Vargas is nothing special but he'd be a fine #4 for a few years.

With this news, I can't believe the angels aren't going to give Vargas a qualifying offer. Even if he accepts it'll be a good deal.

Call me crazy but I actually dig this season. Deb is terrible and Dr. Vogel probably couldn't have said the word "Psychopath" again without my head exploding but this season has it's bright spots too. I liked Zach and dug the scenes with him and Dexter interacting. Harrison falling on the treadmill was must see tv along with mama's boy replaying the song over and over in the diner. Overall I think it's better than the season with Miguel and light years ahead of the one with Lumen.

But we signed madson though so it's all good.
