  4. Mets may not need a 3B now. Wilmer Flores went 6 for 6 today with 2 HRs. Jose Reyes is playing in AA at 3B & he will be ready very soon. Gavin Cecchini has been hitting but is an error machine playing SS mostly throwing. Yesterday making 2 more errors # 26. Lugo stay away 6.55 ERA. Brandon Nimmo looks to be a very good player except vs. LHP.

  7. Word is the Yankees have already approached him with a deal. Now they may deal him at the deadline because of this, but that doesn't preclude them from approaching him as a FA.

  10. Sign the Cuban 3B then I am OK with trading Escobar. Not comfortable with your choices.
  11. Escobar is the team's leadoff & .315 hitter on an offensively challenged team with a $ 7 MM option for next year. Unless he is bringing back high value & the organization is confident that Kaleb Cowart is ready to step in, 3B will be an issue along with LF next year. Cuidado!
  12. Reyes will most probably be signed by the Mets tomorrow at 2 PM ET when he will become a FA for the prorated minimum salary under $ 300,000 while the Rockies will be on the hook for $ 39 MM. He is a diminished player from what he was but even @ 50% he provides speed and MI spark. Absorb the PR by making him publicly atone for his ways and he will be the MLB poster face for the cause. Everybody deserves a 2nd chance, then deal him at the deadline for prospects if he rebuilds value at below market contract.

  14. Jose Reyes was arrested on Halloween after allegedly assaulting his wife in Hawaii. Hawaii News Now reported Reyes is out on bail. The assault allegedly occurred in a Maui hotel room. The report said Reyes grabbed his wife, Katherine Ramirez, by the throat and shoved her into a sliding glass door during an argument. According to the news station, hotel security called police, and the 32-year-old Reyes was arrested in the room. Ramirez reportedly had sustained injuries to her thigh, neck and wrist. The charges were ultimately dropped when Katherine refused to cooperate with prosecutors. http://nypost.com/2015/11/09/jose-reyes-arrested-after-grabbing-wife-by-throat-report/ http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/reyes-rumors-petition-urges-mets-not-support-abusers-article-1.2685603
  15. He played 2B previously when the Mets used Kaz Matsui at SS which didn't work out. He has speed and can play MI but he isn't what he used to be. Worst case is he doesn't work out and he gets cut low risk / high reward. He isn't a bad guy but he is a bit of a showboat but in a playful way. I am not condoning his domestic abuse incident which is a PR issue. If he rebuilds value, he can be traded at the deadline to a contender looking for what he brings to the table. http://nypost.com/2016/06/22/rockies-wont-find-anybody-to-take-jose-reyes-off-their-hands/
  16. Because of the low risk — Reyes is owed approximately $38 million by the Rockies through next season, meaning he would earn a prorated share of the league minimum — the Mets are seriously considering bringing back the franchise leader in triples and stolen bases. However, an industry source said the Mets have expressed reservations about bringing the 33-year-old back after he was charged with domestic violence against his wife in the fall and served a 53-game suspension to start this season. http://nypost.com/2016/06/21/jose-reyes-is-desperate-for-mets-reunion-its-a-no-brainer/
  17. According to the Rockies' public relations department, the club has requested release waivers on Jose Reyes. https://twitter.com/RockiesPR
  18. Bob, Exciting race at Belmont won by a nose. http://www.sbnation.com/2016/6/11/11910478/belmont-stakes-2016-results-finishing-order
  19. Alden Gonzalez ✔@Alden_Gonzalez Next stop, the Angels' rotation, probably Friday in Oakland. https://twitter.com/slbeesradio/status/742173975296413696 … 10:20 PM - 12 Jun 2016
  20. Hot day clearing up yesterday beautiful day so dry track. If this was a triple crown race I would probably go to Penn Station & take the Manhattan special LIRR to Belmont. I was there when Big Brown died on a few years before.
  21. Anaheim Bob, I remember most of what you have recalled. I know that MS is credited with calling plays from the dugout, shutting down the opposing running game, and bringing an NL style offense to the Angels. I loved the team in 2002 and Joe Maddon the former manager of the Angels was the bench coach until he was hired to manage Tampa where he was highly successful, and now with the Cubs where along with Theo I am sure that they will break the curse and win a WS. I liked Mike Napoli for his offense, and I knew that the Vernon Wells contract was the worst in MLB at the time ( a JP Ricciardi special who passed on drafting Troy Tulowitzki because he had previously drafted Russ Adams for SS ). I am well aware of the Angels winning record while MS is away at family graduations, etc as reported by you. Regarding the Belmont, it isn't raining in NY as had been predicted so dry track with the 1.5 Miles distance. I hope you listened to the interviews from yesterday's radio broadcast re: Pletcher's horse and the handicappers that I posted above. Good luck!
  22. I can vouch for Shine. He is multi-dimensional. MS bashing is his schtick but he is funny about it sort of like a comedian.
  23. Ace, I remember you from the Angels Board but you must have had previous names. You aren't the one with the liver transplant, I think that was MLB Diamond.
  24. Hangin n wangin, I don't think I had an argument with Charles but I tuned him out much of the time. He was correct about Matt Shoemaker after watching him at the game late September 20, 2013 Friday night spot start for Weaver. Then in 2014 Shoe was 2nd in ROY voting with a record of 16 - 4 and carried the team on his back into the postseason. That was a great call and he received much abuse over this but he was correct. Sherman Johnson & Bandy are his favorites also. He did predict that the World was coming to an end on July 1, 2015 with the Rapture, but the only thing that did happen was Jerry DiPoto was fired who Charles didn't like.
