  1. I'm really concerned with Ward. He hasn't done too much all season.
  2. 1) I agree with you. Ever since he's getting regular at-bats he looks super confident at the plate. 2) I think Quero is a season and a half away from joining the big club when rosters expand next season on September. He seems to be doing pretty solid at AA right now, and he might jump the timeline depending how well he does. It really depends on Ohtani. If he leaves, Perry might use the DH spot as a rotational rest day spot for the position players. It might be Thaiss as the primary DH and being the backup catcher with O'Hoppe and when O'Hoppe / other position players need a day off, use the DH spot to keep their bat in the lineup.
  3. FYI Neto's OPS+ right now is 103 so he is slightly above league average. At this pace, he'll hit 4 WAR.
  4. I bashed the Angels when they drafted Joyce so high, but that fastball with running action at 102 is fucking nasty. He already beat the odds by making it to the bigs already.
  5. Hey OP, great write up. I was going to write a post like this but you beat me to the punch. Perry has done a great job fixing the massive flaws of the team with great signings, trades, and promotions. Yes this roster still has flaws, namely the defense, the bottom of the rotation, and the bullpen before the 8th inning is still very shaky. But the team is deeper and can hang around and make a playoff run.
  6. I did some quick paper math. Since 2021 to last night's game, Trout is averaging a HR every 12.283 at bats. I made some assumptions and lowered the ratio to 1 HR for every 16 at bats for the next 7 years, with Trout averaging 400 at bats per season, which is about 120 games a season, which is about 25 HR's a season, which totals 175 for 7 years. He'll reach 537 if my predicted numbers come to fruition. I'm being conservative with my estimates, as Trout gets older his power and bat speed starts to wane, and he'll miss some time with various injuries/rest days as well.
  7. You and I have different definitions of good. His start at MIL was good. The last 3 was very mediocre and lucky he didn't give up more runs, giving up 17 hits and walking 10 and only 9 K's in 16 innings.
  8. Anderson has been very poor. I'm not holding my breath. Need the lineup to produce tonight.
  9. I remember Discovery Zone and their commercials. DZ! The discovery zone! My best friend's wife and I were talking about this place recently and how it was ahead of its time with all the indoor play places that are popping up now.
  10. First job, chess coach had a chess equipment home business that the team worked at to help pay for our tournament fees and travel. First official job was picking up trash at Knotts Berry Farm during the summer.
  11. Very small sample size so far but, do the Angels keep rolling with Moniak vs a RH starter in favor of Ward for a while? Ward hasn't shown very much with the bat and his defensive struggles are getting worrisome (WTF was that throw?). Moniak has been a sparkplug and is doing things with the bat and glove. Again small sample size, but I would ride the hot hand with Moniak for a bit.
  12. I think the record reflects what this team is. Pretty hot and cold and slightly above average. The SP has been a pretty big disappointment led by Suarez and to a lesser extent Detmers. I didn't like the signing of T. Anderson and he hasn't shown very much with very shaky control. However Perry's other moves have worked out pretty well. Estevez, Moore, Renfroe, are performing at or near their career highs. Gio has been fine though his lack of power concerns me, Drury after a very cold start has been at his career norms. If the SP improves, and I'm fairly confident Detmers will improve as the season continues, the Angels can possibly sneak in as a WC.
  13. To be fair, I agree with this IBB to get the R/R matchup.
  14. What a bullet throw by Renfoe, played it perfectly off the wall.
  15. Early PST start time. I just woke up 40 minutes ago.
  16. I was listening to this game on the radio. As soon as Tepara was put in I knew he'd implode. How many times is Nevin going to put Tepara in high leverage spots before he learns his lesson? I guess never at this point. This loss is entirely on Nevin and his dumb bullpen decisions.
  17. I'm glad he got out but he threw a lot of pitches in the 2nd.
