  1. Good advice regarding Regeneron Jason! Thanks for that.
  2. Wow! Wake up call for me. I, too, have Multiple Myeloma. I've been getting too comfortable around people and family that aren't masked and/or vaccinated. Even though I'm fully vaccinated,,my medical specialists have warned me time & again to act like I'm not. The antibody protection the vaccine produces dissipates quickly with those that are immunocomprised. I'm currently in 2 studies (John Hopkins & Leukemia - Lymphoma Society) that measures antibodies produced by the vaccines at different time stages. My 1st Pfizer gave me a small amount of antibodies but the 2nd one kicked it up to >250 U/ul. However at my 6 month lab draw it had fallen to 64 U/uL. Fortunately, my 3rd vaccine kicked way up to >2500 U/uL I feel safer from Covid but not entirely. Let's face it, we're all gonna die of something down the road. I just don't want it to be Covid, something I can control if I rationally approach it. Stay safe everyone!!
  3. Exactly! I don't see any Johnny Bench's on our roster or farm system. It hurts to lose Jose but only from a sentimental standpoint IMO.
  4. Here's a few off campus sightings. Pulled up next to a Rolls Royce at a red light on Sherman Way in the Valley. It was freakin' Orson Welles! Was waiting for the valet to get my car at Lasorda's restaurant. Some guy was screaming at another valet. It was Howie Mandel. At a Police Concert at the Forum briefly chatted with Michael Landon at the hot dog bar. He was super cool! Same concert, saw Richard Dreyfus smoking something rolled up in some zig zags. Angels from the past: Reggie Jackson & Don Baylor together at the Ritz Restaurant in Newport Beach Mark Langston at Tulsa Rib Factory in Orange Ron 'Papa Jack' Jackson at a Fullerton Costco Doug DeCinces at a car wash next to my old RE office in Orange David Eckstein at a Ralphs in Newport Beach Garret Anderson at Whole Foods in Irvine My son bar tends at a beachfront restaurant in Newport Beach and I've seen Tim Salmon there a few times and Chuck Finley a bunch of times. Tim avoids eye contact but Chuck is cool!
  5. Here's a few Joe DiMaggio - coming down an escalator at LAX a few days after Marilyn Monroe died. Jim Plunkett & Marcus Allen - at LAX the day after winning SB XVIII Jim McMahon - cruising through a wait area at night wearing his 'shades' at LAX John Huston & Richard Burton - Puerto Vallarta Airport David 'Deacon' Jones - We accidentally walked into each other at LAX. I thought he was going to kill me but instead laughed and said, Sorry Brother"!!
  6. Weaver all day long. One afternoon my young son & I were sitting at Quiznos in Costa Mesa eating some food and John Lackey walked in. He placed his order and stood by a trash can waiting, looking at the ground. My son saw him look up, smiled and waved to him. Lackey gave my son his WTF look, grabbed his food and left. Probably the same look he gave his wife when he left her.
  7. 1985 Orioles/Angels. Eddie Murray had 3 HR's & 9 RBI's in the 1st 5 innings. Hit one to the CF warning track in the 7th & just missed his 4th of the game. Fans were chanting Eddie, Eddie. That had to piss off Reggie.
  8. #383 1973. Sat Upper deck, 1st row, behind home plate. So sweet he broke Koufax's record. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CAL/CAL197309270.shtml
  9. I remember Al Conin, Steve Physioc & Mario Impemba really getting excited about some of these guys. Derrick Turnbow Bobby Rose Dave Frost Ron Romanick Junior Felix Jason Dickson Bobby Clark
  10. Ordered mine yesterday. Cool shirt. I'll spread the word. Victor, hope you stick around announcing Angels games for a long time. Wishing Kim a full recovery.
  11. The Giants. My dad taught me to hate the Dodgers (Interestingly, I always picked the opposite team he rooted for except we both hated the F'ing Dodgers). Reds - Big Red Machine (saw lots of those games at Chavez Latrine) & earlier Pinson/Robinson Cardinals - Gibson/Musial/Brock & Jack Clark Braves - Aaron/Matthews/Spahn/Burdette
  12. Thanks for posting this Chuck. AW guys & gals, this got my attention. I hope this 'cure' is right around the corner but cancer is complex & different as we all are. Please get checked NOW. Never too early. Cancer Worldwide statistics show 1 in 2 males and 1 in 3 females will have cancer in their lifetime. Cancer doesn't give a crap what age, gender, religion or nationality you are. Been healthy my entire life but 2.5 years ago during an annual physical, a simple blood test showed some out of whack numbers. My PCP was alarmed and said it could be several things from internal bleeding to iron deficiency. She saved my life. After 2 months of tests, I was diagnosed with Stage II Multiple Myeloma, the same rare blood/bone marrow cancer that recently got Don Baylor, Mel Stottlemyre and Lou Brock is dealing with now. Nasty stuff. No cure, but somewhat manageable for many with chemo & other treatments. I NEVER thought I would ever have cancer....that's for other people. But I do and was fortunate it was caught when it was as I am in remission. BTW: I've been a huge Angel fan since '61 and have been lurking here on AW for years. Thanks to Chuck & all the usual AW 'suspects' here that keep me informed and laughing throughout the day. This is my 1st post!! Sorry for jumping on the soapbox. I'll keep my future posts about baseball.
