  1. Chuck, I don't doubt that he's ultimately a good person, and I respect that. I just wish Albert would connect with the fans a bit more. Being such a highly paid athlete, I feel he needs to take on more of a 'face of the organization' type role than he does.  In spring training these guys don't have much responsibility - let's be honest. They show up, take some BP, play 3 innings, take a few grounders, then leave. It'd be nice if he was a bit more sincere in giving back to the fans that came to see him. just my opinion, and this will be my last post so I don't derail the thread any further

  2. I had no intention of entering or highjacking this thread but since you invited me in I think I'm entitled to my opinion. I don't attack other posters personally for their views here. I don't drink the Pujols Kool Aid for reasons that I have in meeting him face to face. I also don't try to tell other posters not to like Albert Pujols.

It's true man, Pujols comes off very egotistical in person. I met him once at spring training, and the dude is kind of a grouchy dick honestly. He rarely if ever signs autographs for more than a few minutes and has a pissed off attitude when signing

  3. At this point it's a win if he can finish his contract as a serviceable MLB starter. Him and Wilson coming off the books in 2 years will allow the Angels to potentially recreate their rotation.

Maybe go after Jordan Zimmerman this offseason?

    Richards

    Zimmerman

    Shoemaker

    Skaggs

    Heaney

  4. Hamilton didn't have anything to do with this decision.

He has hurt his team for sure, but some peeps are acting like he is the worst person ever.  He needs some consequences for sure but if fans think that hating on him and booing the crap out of him is going to help his performance, they aren't thinking clearly.

I don't think it's even about his performance at this point though.  It's about him being a good teammate and being a responsible human being/father like someone making that kind of money is expected to be.

It strange for me to type that because I'm usually all about how these players perform on field, but right now with Hamilton it's hard not to be frustrated with what he's doing to the Angels organization and his own family. The guy is basically a 34 year old with a 19 year old junkies mind. It's already a huge distraction and will continue to be until the contract is ate because he always has to be babysat

  5. I like the comments.

This player needs to be disciplined because he is clearly out of control and cannot conduct himself like a rational human being at this point. If you're a drug addict and have relapsed 3 times in the last 5 years it is quite frankly ridiculous that he is not being punished.

At this point the Angels need to eat the contract so this doesn't become an even bigger distraction down the road this season. I mean we all saw how Hamilton worked out sandbagging it in left during the playoffs. I wouldn't be surprised if he was using during that series.  The bottom line is he can't even be trusted to be a veteran leader. He brings absolutely nothing to the team. His only asset on the Rangers was his talent. He doesn't have that talent anymore, and at this point he's just total dead weight that's going to take a spot from someone who works hard

So basically, do whatever it takes Arte. Just put this disaster behind us already. Keeping him around is an even worse move than keeping Wells around for as long as we did was. This guy is just an endless distraction
