  1. Angels are just playing out the string, this isn't representative of anything.

If that's true, then the entire coaching staff should be replaced. I'm a huge Mike Scioscia fan, but it is time to change the culture of the Angels. 4 years of team-record payrolls and no playoff games is good enough reason for me to welcome his firing. He hasn't forgotten how to manage, but there needs to be an entirely new direction in philosophy. Yes, he was put behind the eight ball with the pitching staff that was given to him this year, but at the same time, Joe Girardi's staff sucked too (BP was better, and only one example), and they were in it until 10 days ago or so. I'm excited to see what a new skipper can bring to this team.

  2. We went last night, it was our first game of the year. We usually make the trip from Reno on this weekend (right after Labor Day), and this was the smallest Friday night crowd I've seen in the 9 years we've been doing it. Listening to Angel Talk on the way back to the hotel, Terry said the attendance was 39k...maybe half of those were actually there. Fine by me though, short lines for everything, and the ushers totally hooked us up. We mentioned we drove 9 hours the night before (arriving at 1am) to get there, and Todd, an usher at the main gate, made us 'Honorary Angels' for the game, and we got to run onto the field and sing TMOTTBG before B7...it was ****ing rad!!!

  3. Three answers: Pitching, pitching, and pitching.

The Angels are 5th in the AL (and MLB) in OPS this year. They are 13th in the AL in ERA and WHIP.

I agree with the pitching thing, but the OPS ranking is so misleading. Arte also saying that they've hit well just does not tell the story offensively. The DP's and overall lack of clutch and good situational hitting has been a huge problem this year. When they have a RISP and 0 outs, I have zero confidence that they will cash in. Case in point (just the latest) was the 14 inning game against CLE last Tuesday, bases juiced, 0 outs in the 10th, and nada. Many on here were predicting (as I was) that they would **** that situation up, and they did not disappoint yet again. When in that situation, the next hitter absolutely has to come through with a run-scoring hit (****ing medium depth fly ball??), not get anxious and shit the bed, leaving the next guy to come through. There is a huge lack of 'professional hitter's' approaches in that situation, all year.

  4. Watching the Bees here in Reno with my Angel fanatic 12 yr old daughter. Coworker hooked me up with 3rd row ducats right next to Bees dugout. Kendall got some autographs before game, Lucho, Field, Keith Johnson, Drew Heid. Lucho was way cool, Johnson too. Tommy Field was kinda irritated, but signed anyways. Hanson looks shaky, living at 87-88 and hanging curveballs. Andy Marte hit one about 600' to LF, 1st pitch fastball cockshot, hit it over RR trax, a hike. My kid is beaming, way effing better than sitting home watching the 'big' club!
