The thing about the Angels is that normally good players will periodically have games so awful that they single-handedly lose games (Barria's meltdown against the A's, Thaiss and his two catcher interferences, etc). The volatility on the downside is comical.
Hard to believe Nevin is actually that dumb. Every few games we seem to have a designated "leave this bad pitcher in for 2 innings and hope for the best" game that seems to indicate load management decisions coming from the front office. Like that Barria debacle a while back that defied logic
Their main advantage is that they beat the crap out of mediocre/bad teams. Swept Philly while outscoring them 29-11, 5-1 vs KC while outscoring them 48-22, swept Colorado while outscoring them 31-10, etc. Plus teeing off against the Angels bad pitchers. Not sure how sustainable that actually is when the playoffs start though.
Tepera is a piece of shit. And because he's a Perry signing he will continue to pitch in high leverage situations and cost us valuable games for the rest of the season.
Scioscia won more games with worse rosters. 2017 we won 80 games with Ricky Nolasco, JC Ramirez, Jesse Chavez and Parker Bridwell leading the team in innings and the current team can't pull its head out of its ass with a rotation of Ohtani, Sandoval, Detmers and Anderson.
Suarez seems like he does the bare minimum to keep his job. Guess we'll continue to see one decent start a month sandwiched between complete implosions
