Game 7 will be in AL, so 

I think Colon makes the team better for the rest of the season and next year. Everyone is always surprised by the cost of pitching. There is a market rate and Colon's salary is below that even next year. We need pitching next year and Colon is a good, inexpensive option, even if his age is a risk. It's better than the alternative.

That said, I won't be disappointed we don't get him.

The only fans who make the game less fun for Angels fans are Dodgers and A's fans.

You know what I do when a rule gets in the way of an appropriate decision? I ignore the rule. He was out if not for a rule that didn't serve its purpose.

I wish there was a thread all about my value as a member of AW. Can I win the always here but hardly noticed award? My post count to time spent here ratio speaks volumes.

Trout 2-5 1 HR

Opening Day has always been a can't-miss day for me and my family, but unfortunately I'm the last one upholding the tradition. My dad got old and grumpy and my brother isn't anywhere close to Sothern California.

I know many of you have me beat, but I've been to every Opening Day since 1997 except for 4 years I was living in New York. The past few years I've gone to any of the local bars before the game and made a day of it. This year I'll be at JT Schmid's, then I'll walk over to the stadium with some friends. 

Opening Day is also new hat buying day. I'll head over to the store and see if there is anything worth buying. It's also the day to spend a little extra on that expensive food. 

I'm excited and I can't wait!!!

The fans put A LOT of pressure on Tim to hit that 300th home run. If I recall correctly, he overswung on everything. I remember him saying we embarrassed him that day. It was still fun to be there.

I went to college in NYC from 2002-2006. The first year, we bounced the Yankees from the playoffs and won the World Series. That garnered a lot of respect. We bounced them out of the playoffs again in 2005. Yankee fans had an honest respect for the Angels. Mets fans don't matter. Even back then in the baby days of mlb.tv, I was able to watch plenty of Angels baseball. My senior year, I lived in my own apartment, and one of my neighbors was a huge Angels fan, so we became buddies. You really do connect with fans of your team when you're away, and you will find some. 

Good news. The stadium doesn't have a corporate name. It's Angel Stadium.

Given equal at-bats, Calhoun and Myers are so close it would come down to defense. I don't really know how to analyze defensive metrics and I haven't really watched Myers play, but based on the easy to read stats like outfield assists, putouts, and errors, it wouls seem Calhoun is the more exciting player on the field, for better or for worse. He has 4 errors to Myers' 0, but it seems that Calhoun gets to more balls. Calhoun has that rocket for an arm earning him 3 assists to Myers 1, and we know a strong right field arm can affect an opponents 1st to 3rd and scoring plays, but I'm not sure how important that is.

If I'm voting in that scenario, I give the slight edge to Calhoun, but given actual circumstances, Myers is the offensive rookie of the year. Unfortunately for Myers, the rookie of the year can be won by pitchers, too.

WIth all that said, I'd still vote for Archer.

The field is so weak, they should just give it to Trout again. 

There really was no qualifier here, so #2 is surprising. It's the whole reason I even decided to post about it.

Trumbo has hit his home runs a total 2.66 miles, bested only by:

Miguel Cabrera (3.36 mi)

Chris Davis at (3.92 mi)

Why did I choose miles as my unit? It just seems cooler. By the way, Mike Trout has only hit his a paltry 2.06 miles. I guess his season wasn't so great after all. 

Speaking of this topic, does anyone know if there's somewhere that lists these numbers, especially historical stats. I'd love to see single season and career leaders in this.
