  1. I'm usually only able to get to one Angels game a year and tonight was the night- my 2 boys were way excited- they wanted some autographs, so I forked over the cash for close seats and we got to the stadium when the gates opened. Looking at the Angels players- they just have no energy. Mike Trout was the only player that signed autographs and interacted with fans at all. My boys were yelling out all the players names pregame as they just walked right by. I understand that it's their workplace and they're on the road, but I just can't understand how players just walk right by all these kids that would be thrilled if they just came over and signed a few autographs. Anyways- their body language is not a winning team. I didn't want to believe it about the Angels, but most of them act like the entitled millionaires that they are. It's just really hard to explain to a 10 and 8 year old that are trying hard to choke back the tears why no players will come over. I'm glad Mike Trout took some time and I realize that he's the face of baseball, but I would expect him to sign fewer autographs than everyone, not be the only guy on the team signing. Anyways, just venting about the whole situation, but this team, except for Trout just seems very plastic and content and insulated. Maybe it's different at home, but I just really have a hard time with the body language and attitude of most of this team.
  2. I remember that Greinke was going to the highest bidder, but how much were the Angels off? I was just thinking how different things may have been if we'd been able to get Greinke instead of Hamilton.
  3. Is it possible he's being showcased for a trade?
  4. This is not his MLB debut- he pitched a few games for Miami last year
  5. The only thing I don't like about Giavotella is that big was of chew he's been sporting lately. After seeing what it did to Tony Gwynn, I just cringe when I see these guys with mouths full of tobacco.
  6. wasn't sure which thread to post this link, but I found a cool article about a game last year with Heaney pitching against Tropeano- they both did pretty well. http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20140523&content_id=76467280&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb&sid=milb
  7. Bummed, but I will keep Howie's name alive on this board - maybe Angels can sign Howie again after a year with the Dogs
  8. This may be off topic a bit, but does anyone know why it seems like it's so easy to get out of Cuba these days? I seem to remember it being some harrowing experience for Kendrys to get out and you always hear about the people in shark infested waters, etc- has there been a change in getting these players out of Cuba that I just haven't heard about?
  9. I know I'm probably going way overboard on trying to make a case for why Locker might choose baseball, but according to this article, his wife played softball at UW and her dad played in the Padres system- oh- she's from Placentia, CA too- maybe she wouldn't mind coming home? http://www.playerwives.com/nfl/tennessee-titans/jake-lockers-wife-lauren-greer/
  10. I realize it probably won't happen, but it would be interesting if it did. Odds are he never sticks as an NFL starter again- I'm sure when the contract was signed with the Angels the possibility was discussed that he gives a good shot in the NFL and considers baseball if the NFL doesn't work out. Why else would the Angels have signed him through 2015? Seems to me that the NFL hasn't worked out and probably won't. You'd think maybe, just maybe there's a chance
  11. Found this quote in this article: One anonymous scout was quoted in Baseball America magazine earlier this year saying Locker "could be a potential Hall of Famer" on the diamond. He's also viewed as a potential high-round draftee in football, though depending largely on how he progresses under new UW coach Steve Sarkisian. http://seattletimes.com/html/huskies/2009669878_uwfb16.html
  12. Just browsing espn and notice that the Titans have named Metrenburger their QB- got me wondering how long we have the rights to Jake Locker- according the article I read, Angels hold his rights until August of 2015 and he's only signed for football through the end of this season. Seems like it might be a smart move for him to give baseball a shot since he's still relatively young (he's only 26). I'd love to see him give baseball a shot- from what I read, he was a great baseball prospect
  13. Vernon Wells....hmmm..no..Jeff Mathis...no... Gary Mathews Jr
  14. Even with the off day, Angels are going to be facing a tired team on Thursday- adrenaline wearing off, flying to CA- Angels need to take advantage
  15. What we need now is a nice small injury to a key guy for the team that wins- nothing major, but enough to hamper their effectiveness
  16. Look at how far the Red Sox have fallen. If I remember correctly, 2003 was pretty bad too. Don't get me wrong, even if we suck for a couple years after, it's worth it for another title- I just hope this season is the beginning of another string of playoff runs and not a one-hit wonder
  17. Might be a bit rushed, but I'd like to see what Tyler DeLoach can do- couldn't hurt to bring him up for one game
  18. If anyone is interested, a Chicago radio station will be talking about Beckham's career arc in a few minutes at www.670thescore.com. Might be interesting-
  19. Havent heard anything before, but maybe Angels are back as the "undisclosed" team. not a bad low risk, high upside move. http://touch.baltimoresun.com/#section/847/article/p2p-78547390/
  20. Sure would be nice to have both of these guys on the team- I realize there are lots of guys drafted out of high school that choose to go to college, just makes me wonder if there was more the organization could have done back then to get these guys to sign.
  21. I messaged you- I'll take the tickets if they're still available and I can pick them up somehow in arizona
