Ok I'll come in here and be the only one to not bitch in the game day thread WW. That way you can bitch about my sunny disposition.
It's just that it's been the same tired shit every day. And the worst part is your argument doesn't even make sense. It makes you sound like a moron. "I'm mad that Arte didn't spend any money this offseason even though it's obvious now it wouldn't have done any good and most likely would have only prolonged the org's tailspin."
And you know damn well if this was someone else making some lame anti Pujols argument or anti Scioscia argument day after day, you'd be calling them out just like I'm calling you out.

Yes but I'm sure we are all grateful Arte didn't spend any money.
Jesus, Strad, give it a rest already.

That happens when you're one game out of a playoff spot and then in the off season the owner gives up on the team. That being said there's no amount of free agency that can overcome the injuries that have happened this year.
So if you're admitting that Moreno couldn't have done anything in the offseason that would have made a difference, then you're bitching about him just for the sake of bitching about him, which is exactly what you call all the Scioscia haters out for.

If he plays well, we trade him, right?
yes. best case scenario is he pitches well enough over the next month and a half to convince some contending team to part with a prospect or two at the deadline for their stretch run. otherwise he's just a (welcome) distraction for Angels fans.

Why? Might as well let him finish the year in the rotation, it's not like we're him out of the rotation away from post season play.
But what do you think is better for the org? Letting Weaver play out the string or seeing what we have in Tropeano and letting him get some more experience under his belt?
-
Impossible to know right now whether Weaver is still in the rotation because of loyalty/stubbornness or simply a lack of able-bodied players. We'll know if/when the injured SPs start coming back.

Skaggs staying healthy the rest of the year and pitching well would be one of the best things to happen in 2016.

But maybe if we keep trying Alvarez over and over again he will magically stop being shit.
hahaa like I said, of course it's easy to second guess decisions, but some of the decisions are just awful from the get go.
-
He doesn't have a whole lot to work with, and this season isn't on him, but I think one of the real credible complaints about Scioscia is his bullpen management. Lot of obviously questionable decisions and a lack of feel for who to use in what situation.

Arte isn't paying Cowart $2.5M + incentives. So I have to disagree ... a Cowart HR is nice but certainly not a big deal at the moment.
btw I know some of you guys are thinking trade piece but I guarantee you that's not why he was signed.
this makes no sense. Lincecum's potential success means more because he's getting paid a couple million bucks? No. The point is that if this org is going to pull itself out of this massive hole within the next 5 or 6 years, it's going to take some of their prospects - i.e. Cowart, Taylor Ward, Nate Smith and the like - breaking through and either becoming above average MLB players or premium prospect/trade chips.
Re: Lincecum, let's put it this way - if 1/3rd of the way through the season your team is a game out of last place and you're hoping a washed up pitcher who hasn't been good in 5 years is going to contribute in some meaningful way, you might need to reassess things. That's kind of the definition of pathetic.

It was .370 I checked Monday morning. Still ridiculous and inaccurate to say he doesn't take walks. And what does BABIP have to do with OBP?
Guys without speed generally can't sustain high BABIPs, so it stands to reason his BA, and thus his OBP, is most likely going to come down. He hasn't been a bad leadoff hitter for them so far (swings too much and doesn't have enough speed for my tastes, but still), but he's not the "solution" for the leadoff role, and in particular shouldn't be held onto if there's any chance we can get some prospects for him at the deadline.

Trout no where to be found this road trip it seems?
he had a pretty good weekend in Pittsburgh, I believe, but has been a little MIA so far in the Bronx.

Ssshhhh, no facts allowed.
his OBP is .362, and that's based on a .342 BABIP, which is well above league average and well above his career average. he doesn't walk, has little power, no speed, plays horrible defense, and generally seems disinterested and/or unfocused. other than that he's a great player.

I don't see how this team can't be sellers
plenty of people on this board who think we're one or two players away from being "pretty good."
and they think the rest of us are crazy.

His contribution this year has been massively overrated. He hasn't been bad overall but he's only at 0.5 WAR because he's so awful defensively. I would gladly take anything of substance that someone was willing to offer for him.
He's also one of those classic empty BA hitters. Lots of singles, no walks.

True. Unless, of course Lincecum comes up and does well so we can trade him for prospects.
Which seems remote given that he hasn't been good since 2011.

Cowart just went deep off top 30 prospect Braden Shipley.
This is 1000x more important to the org than anything Tim Lincecum does today.

The truth is there's no real order to our rotation. Anyone of them can step up on a given day and anyone of them can fall off a cliff the next day.
Yup, this.

lol bump
Cron still isn't very good. I love how 2 game means more than the dozens before it.
