  1. Several comments about needing Fletcher back at the top of the lineup. I’m not sure I even want him starting, let alone leading off the way he’s been playing.
  2. Floplag, Erstad Grit, and Ace of Diamonds all got it outright. Taylor and TDawg get honorable mention with creative math. Sorry Hubs, can’t hedge your bet. See ya in August.
  3. Been wanting to read this. Posnanski’s stuff is always a good read.
  4. And tied for the 2nd best record in the AL. Gotta savor these moments after the last few seasons. Yes, I know it’s early.
  5. Locals here are generally friendly, gracious, and hard working. Just about everyone works multiple jobs. “Island time” is a thing though, things get done at a slower pace than on the mainland. One of the most refreshing things about moving here has been the fact that my patients are appreciative and polite. I had worked for the same hospital on the mainland for more than a decade and the average patient had become incredibly entitled and angry (mostly white people, sorry Cals). There is a some annoyance with tourists, but I don’t find it to be any different than the annoyance locals feel toward tourists anywhere else I have lived.
  6. Nope, just lots of poke. Since there is only one bathroom, probably a blessing!
  7. No, never really been into hunting. But I hear that the axis deer meat is fantastic though. Not gamey and lean. Lots of people come here just to hunt. I know they award tags year round, and they are pretty easy to get. That’s about the extent of my knowledge.
  8. Door is always open. Hope you like dogs, cats, children, and tight spaces! We have an inflatable mattress available any time. Plenty of room in the studio apartment we are currently living in
  9. When I first got here it had been very dry for several months and the deer had taken up residence in town since that’s where the food sources were. It was nuts. Huge herds in every open space. We’ve had a rainy spring so they’ve moved back to the mountain. There are over 30,000 of them on this little island. They have full time jobs filled to just cull the herd. Lots of wild turkeys here too. The island has been privately owned for so long that it’s basically just maintaining the status quo. Ellison has invested a good bit in the island and he paid everyone throughout COVID when the resorts were shut down, so he might be viewed a little more positively by some. Shipwreck is a hidden gem. You can walk miles with views of Molokai and Maui and not pass another human. Great spot.
  10. The cat sanctuary is actually really cool. Over 600 cats that were feral a decade ago and now live in cat paradise. And it only smells like cat pee when the wind isn’t right:)
  11. Hobo and retired sound like great options, but I unfortunately moved for work. It is a fabulous job though. 20% more money to do 90% less work. Definitely scored.
  12. Lanai is very rural. Larry Ellison owns 98% of the island, so development is tightly controlled. It’s a pretty cool spot. Great beaches about 10 minutes away. Weather is ideal for me, rarely over high 70s and it’s a deep freeze here when the temps drop into the 50s at night. Not too much rain. No traffic, no fast food. Maui is a 45 minute ferry ride away. It’s tough to find housing here, that’s the biggest drawback I’ve come across. It’s not the most exciting island, but worth a visit if you are in Maui for sure.
  13. I’ve been on this forum for a long time (since 08 at least) and mostly just lurk. Posted a bit way back when but busy jobs, kids etc. kept my from being as active as I’d like. I moved to Hawaii, Lanai specifically, in November and find myself with more time to be an active member. Any other Halo fans living in the islands on here? I can’t say enough about the lifestyle and quality of life here. I went from busting my ass and never having enough time to even breathe to a much slower, more humane life. So far, so good:)
  14. I like Wade. His speed is a plus. I think I’d go Mayfield at 2B and Wade at SS if Fletch is out for an extended period, but with a relatively short leash. SS defense is important, so I’m willing to give a longer trial if the defense is outstanding. Sure would be great if Rengifo could step up and make a case for himself. I like his plus arm and pop at SS. Mayfield gets at bats just based on offensive potential, but again, we have enough options that you can keep the leash short. Duffy seems like a decent utility guy until proven otherwise. I don’t know much about Velasquez. If everyone is meh, give Davis a shot? Fletch doesn’t get too much time if he continues to suck? Maybe to June 1 if he comes back without an extended IL stay?
  15. You’ve been around here long enough to understand that it’s imperative that we overreact to our own players. Wouldn’t be Angelswin without it!
  16. I’m generally encouraged. Pitching has been decent outside of the one implosion vs Houston. Offense I have plenty of faith will be decent over the course of the season. It’s early, but things are looking alright so far.
  17. With 1 more game vs the Astros, 2 vs the Marlins, and 4 vs the Rangers, where do the Angels end up after the first 10 Games? I’m going with 6-4 and some momentum heading into the next series vs the Astros. Winner gets bragging rights and I’ll buy you a beer at the game on 8/13/22 (only game I will attend this year since I moved to Hawaii).
  18. Nice to see Trout with the blast. Encouraging signs from Syndergaard and the pen. Baby steps.
  19. I’m worried that if I get excited to see Syndegaard pitch, he will spontaneously combust just prior to the top of the second. After k-ing the side in the first.
  20. Angels are just adjusting our expectations so they can later exceed them. All part of Joe’s plan. For sure.
