Seems like the Angels just don't have a plan right now
-
Man I say one thing and everyone goes crazy on me lol.
-
I hope he doesn't have a magic number. But selling quick doesn't mean you get the best deal. Get the best deal you can and trade. Whether it takes waiting till the deadline or a week before
-
I'll have to call BS on this. I mean first of all, what does Trumbo have a roommate for when he's at home? It isn't like the man is hurting for money in his current profession. But that's really beside the fact.
A General Manager does not approach a player in Trumbo's situation (younger, under contract) just to tell him he's on the block. That's stupid. That's not the way it works at all. In Downs case, sometimes a GM will do that, SOMETIMES. But in Trumbo's case, that's not only unheard of but also bad policy.
No way this is remotely ac curate, even if he is on the market.
He actually has a room mate and he lives at the stadium lofts. I don't know why I'd make up this story. I've been around here long enough and don't just spout off and say things when I didn't actually hear them. Again I never said this was the the absolute truth or he was being traded just what I heard. I don't know why some of you are getting all butt hurt by something I posted from what I heard.
-
I'm not buying the Trumbo piece. Downs, yes, because he is a FA. In the AL, the team that needs OF and DH protection is Texas. They are concerned about Nelson Cruz going bye-bye for 50 games. They have inquired about K-Mo from Seattle and Pence from SF.
I doubt the Angels would assist Texas in their quest.
I don't know why the Angels would help Texas, but I didn't say anything about Trumbo being traded to Texas.
-
Usually the rumors they hear are from the media. The manager and GM are not going to talk to players about potential trades or being on the block unless maybe they are a vet that was asking for one final playoff opportunity.
Who knows, thats why I just said take it with a grain of salt.
-
I think you were probably given bad info. Players rarely know if they are on the trading block.
Who knows. But I am guessing there are a lot of rumors that people here in the clubhouse.
-
Take this with a grain of salt. But I was talking to a friend today who's buddy is room mates with Trumbo and what I guess Trumbo had told his room mate is that what he knows right now is that he and Downs are on the trading block. Figured I would pass this along.
I would be sad if Trumbo left because he is the type of guy we should keep around, but in the same respect I think this team needs a complete over haul and the only guy I would not trade would be Trout everyone else could be had for prospects imo.

Hmmm maybe it just seems like it then. What's WPA?Albert has struggled but this isn't true. .808 OPS with RISP and .854 OPS in late and close situations. His WPA is above average as well so he's hitting with guys on this year.
-
Not caring. The guy seems to only hit when no one is on base.
-
He hasn't produced all year
-
Just because you made a bad investment or two doesn't mean you have two hold on to both of them. Boston got rid of their terrible contracts. Jerry is paid to get creative with deals I'm sure there's some team out there that would make a deal or two maybe in the offseason or for another bad contract. Hey Kemp is awful this year
-
I honestly am thinking if not renewing my season seats next year. I don't want to pay to watch Albert and Josh and the crap that's on the field right now. I'd much rather to a game and watch the young guys play with heart then watch a hobbled old Albert who doesn't hustle, Hamilton look disinterested and the team just not caring. Ill take a team of hustlers and guys who r giving it there all who are young then this excuse for a team.I can't stomach a bunch of season's in a row of 90+ losses while we wait to see if a bunch of acquired prospects live up to their potential. There are a couple of guys that could end up quality major leaguers in the system now, but they are not ready.
I can't bear to watch Trout have mvp type season surrounded by a supporting cast of never will be's
I don't even want to thing of 'what could have been' if we sell off a bunch of spare parts and watch trout, pujols, hamilton, weaver, and wilson put together good seasons while the team loses 90 game because jiminez, romine, lindsey and cron struggle next year and we trot out Richards, Blanton, and Williams as 3/5ths of our rotation. Or if Jepsen is our closer.
What is more likely? A bunch of prospects panning out or a couple of over priced players who have a track record of performing actually putting together some good seasons.
Maybe I am in the minority, but I still want the team compiled with some semblance of opportunity to win. Even if they need some things to go right, it's still better than being guaranteed to lose and pinning your hopes on a bunch of guys that could be good but never actually have.
Does everyone's mentality about this team losing change next year if the media tells us we are not very good?
-
I don't know how the front office can convince themselves this same roster with an added pitcher or two will do anything else than finish in third or fourth place the next three years with out a massive overhaul. I'd be actually thrilled to see them but the team with some sort of plan for the future not this half assed plan where we sign huge free agents and go all in with over priced over the hill part time players.
-
Trade everyone who has value except Trout. Rebuild and reset if the Angels don't do that then this is going to be one long 5 or 6 years
-
I thought he was going to be a good change at GM but he has missed the boat on a lot of deals. I don't know why people blame Arte for signing Pujols, CJ and Hamilton, and giving no blame to Dipoto. But maybe Dipoto wanted Pujols and Hamilton so bad he told Arte to get after it as well and sell the team to them. Dipoto hasn't been very good here and most of his decisions have not worked out. I kind of hope for a rehaul of the organization this off season. With Dipoto and Mike being let go and letting a whole new cast of characters run this team. But hey that's just me.

Lol. Baseball umpires are such jokes. One day I hope MLB gets it right and starts using instant replay and gets rid of these useless peons umpiring games.

I love Timmah guys awesome congrats!

like the brighter colors

Some wins a lot of boring baseball and lots more losses. Hopefully trading off veterans who could give us some minor league depth and lower our payroll for the next couple years like Downs, Wilson, Weaver, Callaspo, Howie, Aybar, Vargas and Iannetta start the rebuild with Bourjos Trout and Trumbo at the Helm. Heck try to trade our waste of space Hamilton and Mike S for Kemp's crappy ass lol would be funny.
-
Him barely jogging on all of his double plays is just disgusting. At least when Pujols grounded out he was sprinting. Props to Pujols for hustling. Hamilton looks like he just doesn't care. I could like the guy if he looked pissed or was hustling his butt off. But he looks like he's barely trying out there.
-
I'd like to see Bourjos hit 2nd. Dude can crush fastballs and with Trout on base a good chunk of the time that's a good thing. Hamilton needs to be moved down to 6th until he's proven he's back to form.
I agree Trout then Bourjos sounds perfect to me
-
Shocking since Mike has had Trout back in the lead off position it looks like our teams offense has turned a page. I don't know what took him so long but lets hope Mike doesn't have a brain fart again and change this up. Trout is the best lead off hitter in the game and he should be there his entire career where he can use all of his assets.

I am down sounds fun

We need an entirely new organizational philosophy from the owner on down. In the offseason clean house GM, manager, coaching staff etc!
