The Ducks are starting to look more like a close to the deadline seller. I don't get it, since teams would be better off having new players earlier to get them acclimated. And, Verbeek hasn't received a bump in return from waiting. Maybe, even lost out some. It is what it is though.

I see that Carrick has joined the trade deadline rumor mill. Actually, kind of surprised he hasn't been brought up before. Well, actually not that surprised. He's not a name. So, not a lot of interest in his speculation by the rumor spreaders. I could see him getting moved though. A fourth pick maybe. Though a move up from a higher pick would be nice. We don't need a lot of bodies. Quality bodies would help.

On a positive note, no soph fallback for McT. He's having a better year than last.

That 3rd period comeback was our fault. They were laying down and quiting. We pissed them off and gave them a reason to beat us.

I don't think we're going to get any meaningful offers on Gibson's contract this year.

You're right. Something should be done over the summer. I would be surprised if at least one asst. coach isn't replaced. I think Cronin has at least one more year and probably two to get this team playing at an NHL level. Verbeek has to know what we're seeing this year has been structurally caused by his plan. Next year the play hopefully starts to level out and the year after we should see some of what his plans are designed to create.

You have to figure that's coming at some point, don't you?

No, he's not Minty all around or Zellweger offensively. But, he's held his own in his rookie season. I think it's too early from a fans prospective to over evaluate him. We need to see how his third season goes to know where he evaluates out. The draft pick we get this year will have an impact on this team. Unlike previous picks, this one will push someone out. Hinds is a defense only player. He's probably 3rd pairing if he makes it on this team. If it comes down to him or LaCombe, it will probably be a monetary/cap related decision. So much up in the air going forward the next two seasons. I think it's too early to say much. Actually, the guy I wonder about keeping is Leason. If he doesn't show something soon, does he have a place going forward? Why keep giving him ice time while Nesterenko, Regenda, King sit in SD. Maybe those guys need more time down there and he's a place holder? Maybe we sign another 2-3 FA's this offseason and he's displaced. We'll see.

I think they are giving LaCombe a break. He's played a lot this year for a rookie.

As our team presently is configured, we don't match up well with Toronto Oh well, click another game off without adding any points. The advantage in our present disadvantaged state.

I don't know. I don't see him as better than Bush and he doesn't help Minty so... If Bush was traded, he might have a place next season. But do you see Verbeek trading him for a late 3rd or worse ? It kind of seems we've moved past that point in our rebuild. This team needs a little more stability going forward. We have to trade Henrique and Gibson too (at some point). I don't see where we gain by wholesale trading a bunch of guys. Move the guys that get you a top 75 pick or need to go. Other than that, I say stand pat.

Lindstrom = place holder. I think the guy is just a filler. Probably for just this season. Next year there. Has to be a spot for Zellweger. Luneau probably too. There's just no room for the guy - or any guy unless they are an upgrade over our top 4 , are 25-28, and are ,what, 6'2".

Reading this, the top 10 looks pretty decent. There should be someone of high quality the Ducks could pick out if we're, say, 7th or better in the draft.
