  1. I think there's room (and need) on the team for both. Carlsson and McTavish are centers because the way they pass and drive offense, it's the best place for them. Terry and Gauthier are wingers because that's where their skill set is the most valuable. That leaves Zegras with being both. Because in hockey you need one high quality player to be able to do both (Z takes Henrique's place). A winning team in the NHL needs 5 high quality forwards and 2 high quality d men. The way I see it, Carlsson, McTavish, Terry, Zegras and Gauthier are our 5 forwards and Miny is one of our d men. The other d man should come in this year's draft. There's no reason to trade anyone unless you get someone to fill one of the 7 spots. Drysdale for Gauthier was trading up a guy in one spot for another. So, unless a deal comes up that gets us a better center than McT or a better combo than Z or the vacant d spot (which happens if we win the lottery and land Celebrate-good-times), none of those guys gets traded. At least, that's the way I see Verbeek seeing it.
  2. Looks like we ... Well did we lose or did we win by losing? If Henrique is moved, I wouldn't mind replacing him with Hertl if they would take back some of his contact. Maybe give them Lindy and take on $7M/yr of his contract.
  3. If this had been against at least half the teams in the NHL, in their home arenas, it would not have been called. Book it
  4. Elevate the puck over the pads. See how it's done, Silf.
  5. The potential of a regulation 0-0 game remains. The rest of the league would get a laugh out of that.
  6. I guess the refs didn't think giving SJ extra power plays would do it. So, now they're giving them assists.
  7. Lol, I just came on to post Hazy's quote on that play.
  8. They're showing the lineup for tonight. It looks like an equivalent lineup to San Jose. Maybe it will be a good game.
  9. If this keeps up, we'll have a better line on the IR than we can put on the ice. Oh well, the season has been announced as over. So, I guess we're in pre-preseason for the rest of the year. Probably for the best.
  10. From what I read, it's hard to put together what the system will be like going forward. I have my doubts it will be any better (or cheaper) than what we presently have. Don't mean to be a pessimist, but I don't see the teams or leagues giving up any revenue. I also think they would error on the side of over pricing their product rather than go below the present charges and hope to increase viewership to get comparable revenue .
  11. Well, that's if you overlook our inability to generate offense. But hey, basically a 1-0 game. They didn't do any better offensively than us. We only had one of the top 3 wingers we'll have going forward. We just need to keep a good approach/attitude and gain some maturity and experience. We need more veteran presence with a higher skill set than some of the guys we have now. I wouldn't move Vatrano. We have enough prospects without the return he would bring. Hopefully we will get a high level player in the coming draft. That should be enough to build a high quality team. It's time after this season to start moving forward. Arizona and Detroit have with less of a prospect pool than we have.
  12. Gibson has looked really good on a back to back. Get that value up, Verbeek.
  13. Ref steps on the puck, ends up flinging it towards the goal. That would have been a highlight of we scored off his assist.
  14. Washington plays a tight defense. Works a little too well against an offensively challenged team like the Ducks.
  15. And, there it is. Johnston saying the Ducks aren't taking Washington's sh!t tonight. It's not going to be like the last meeting.
  16. Here we go again. Gudas not playing. So, I guess Johnston is going to have to scrumb with Carlson.
  17. Okay, I see it. Vatrano has a lot of passion.
  18. Philosophical question: If you take the five hole shot away from Silfverberg, does he have a shot?
  19. I think Zellweger will be okay with the bigger guys around him. Just as Vatrano is. Anyway, the Ducks can't afford to lose his offensive potential until they have someone to replace it with. Which at this point they don't.
  20. Damn Stolarz. You let that go right under you. Oh, that's right, you're not a Duck anymore. Nothing to see here. Move on.
