And, that's all they're paying him for. So, you wouldn't think it would be too hard to do. But too often, these coaches just can't resist trying to over play guys (umm... Corry Perry) and they perform poorly.
Kind of the story with Gibson, too. Forget about the salary going out and just get your solid 50 or so games from the guy. He would give you all-star play or close to it. Over play him on a poorly defended team (like they do) and get way too many mediocre games. The sad part is he ends up only playing about 50 games a season because of injuries anyway. Two games in net; one or two out consistently and he might be playing on a playoff team now.
The cap goes up and I think he'll be on another team next year. Hopefully someone else can manage him better - but, I doubt it.
