I think they'll check the standings at about mid-August to determine if it's even worth pitching him this season. He's facing his Arb4 year so it's a huge blow to him financially. This seasons setback cost him a lucrative long term deal.
Should've just got the tommy John and been on his way to recovery like Heaney is - I'll bet he ends up having the surgery this offseason - such a bummer for us but especially for him - again I hope I'm wrong

You don't use your brain to pitch.
Hmmm - I'd say you do - plus to overcome the fear of it happening again takes a strong person to get back out there .

I swear to god, I cannot keep our pitchers' twinges, sorenesses, dehydrations and tightnesses straight.
Interesting that the guy who had to have brain surgery Has thrown more pitches and has been in more games than Richards/ Skaggs

Richards (biceps) is scheduled for a full evaluation next Monday and could be cleared to throw if all goes well, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
Even so, Richards would still require a couple weeks of long toss and bullpen sessions before he will even be able to embark on a rehab assignment. It's good that Richards continues to show progress, but he will still likely be out until mid-August.
I can't imagine that he will throw another pitch in a game this season - hope I'm wrong

I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks he will end up having tommy John anyway - he took quite a gamble with his career - so let's say he gets it in the fall then he's out for 2 years - never pitches again for the Angels .
Gets picked up on a one year deal by the A's has a dominant season which leads to a 3 year deal with a better team only to go on the DL and Never return .
I hope im wrong he has such talent - I just see this going wrong for us

I'm thinking Trout - congrats to Albert - very cool to see that happen at home too

Chuck - I had the same reaction as you and was told by a few people that I was too harsh - but it's a normal reaction . I'm a professional musician but not of his fame level - hard to imagine not loving that life - I wonder about the drugs he was prescribed or what his mental state was - was he mentally ill ?

Loved this guy's music.
But damn, it's hard for me to like him now as he checked out on a family, especially two daughters who he was very close with.
I don't get it. All the fame, money, health and a great family and life, only to check out of the lives of those who loved you immensely. Coward.

For sure an embarrassing disaster - actually worse than I thought it would be .
He lives in an alternate reality - it might be fun to try living like that .
For example if I were him I could say " I'm so proud to be an Angels fan - the 2016 season was a HUge success 7 million fans attended games throughout the season and I'm so happy we won the World Series "
then maybe one of my buddies says to me " hey man 2016 was a losing season"
I reply " well whatever , that's what someone told me "
it could go on forever .....

For sure - this whole thing hangs on what happens in the rotation . Lots of questions - could go Either way . I think this is the most uncertain I've felt going into a new season in a long time

6-14 in the first 20 games ....

Anyone mentioned Trevor Reckling ?

The lives of 2 master musicians are at stake not a time to joke - prayers and good thoughts to each man and their family

I'd like to see him back next season - he's 34 not time to retire - maybe and hopefully he realizes it's not gonna be a big contract . With so many question marks with our starting pitching why not bring him back as long as the money works
-
I'd say yes - but I highly doubt it happens . Bringing back former players seems like a very rare thing for the Angels . I'd love a Trumbo reboot though .

Snake bit by injuries this team can only hope to sell fans a chance at seeing Trout be Trout and .... Watch Albert climb the all time home run list - even if he is batting .190 ... Little bit of value there not much though
-
ive liked what ive seen so far - fun to watch in the field for sure and the bat has been alright
-
I agree- ive liked what ive ssen so far- play the hot hand
-
So do we bring him back next year on a hometown discount ? I'll admit he's my favorite player and I get sentimental about the homegrown guys - but do we bring him back if the price is right ?
I really can't imagine him playing anywhere else - maybe he still will have value as a 4 or 5 to us
-
I agree the dude has heart and is working his hardest - makes me root for him even moreI'm not sure anyone but Weaver could get away with that kind of speed and still win games.
Dude is friggin determined. And I think the team feeds off of it.
Good for Weaver, I wish nothing but the best for him.
I love how angry he gets!! He wants to win every battle!
