Yep. The thing is, Rick Wilson has a lot to prove. How many of his 1st rounders or even top 5 picks in each of his last drafts since taking over from Eddie Bane have been productive major leaguers?- 734 replies

Well.... So do really know that no other team had Ward on their board around our pick @hangin n wangin? Also, if a team scouts thousands of players and their #1 pick on their board is like ranked 200th on Baseball America's board, who is right? Nerds behind computers or actual scouts that watch these kids play on multiple occasions?- 734 replies

I wonder who made the call for this decision? I mean, I have ZERO problem with picking guys who the so-called experts have farther down in their rankings, the Seattle Seahawks have been doing this since Pete Carroll's reign up here and they've been successful. But, was this a decision made by 1. Scioscia (because he loves catchers) 2. Dipoto (because he wanted to fuck the Angels before quitting) or 3. Arte (because he wanted to sign someone cheap?) or 4. Ric Wilson and his scouts (because they either saw something in this kid they really liked or they do not know how to scout). Either way, it is WAY TOO EARLY to be calling Taylor Ward a bust. He's in his first full season in the minors and he looked really good on both sides of the game in his first taste in Low-A ball last year after being drafted.- 734 replies

Scioscia will live out his contract, but when it's up, I hope he's gone and we get some fresh blood in here at manager. I like Bud Black, but when I say fresh, I mean someone NEW and from the outside.

Here's a good scouting report on Kirilloff. http://www.fueledbysports.com/alex-kirilloff-scouting-report/ ALEX KIRILLOFF’S INFO Height: 6’2″ Weight: 195 Bats: Left Throws: Left School: Plum High School (New Kensington, Pennsylvania) Position: OF/1B Birthday: 11/9/1997 College Commitment: Liberty ALEX KIRILLOFF’S SCOUTING REPORT Kirilloff is one of the better high-school hitters in this year’s draft, with his excellent bat speed and ability to hit to all fields. He has an advanced approach at the plate and that might be due to the fact that his dad is a professional hitting coach. Kirilloff is also solid defensively and will probably end up playing one of the corner outfield spots or first base. Strengths Advanced approach at the plate Excellent bat speed Plus power Plus contact potential Hits to all fields High baseball IQ Above average defense Above average arm Weaknesses Tends to get jammed on inside pitches Doesn’t have much playing time against good competition ALEX KIRILLOFF’S SCOUTING GRADES Tool Grade/Projection Contact 50/60 Power 55/65 Run 45/50 Arm 55/60 Field 55/60 Overall 50/60 ALEX KIRILLOFF’S DRAFT PROJECTION Mid First Round ALEX KIRILLOFF’S PRO COMPARISON Carlos Gonzalez – Colorado Rockies WHERE COULD KIRILLOFF END UP IN THE DRAFT? Kirilloff ceiling looks like the Indians at 14, with the Angels being his floor at 16. If I had to guess I would say he falls to the Los Angeles Angels- 734 replies

@gotbeer and @Angel Oracle are you still seeing this issue? If so could you take a short video of the behavior and send it to me? -
LOL. Nicely done.

That said, Ventura seriously needs to get the shit kicked out of him. Throwing 97-100 mph baseball at the human body does not feel good.

This represents the second iteration of MLBTR’s top 10 trade candidate series. We’ve already seen a name fly off the shelf, as last week’s fifth-ranked trade candidate —James Shields — was flipped from the Padres to the White Sox. Remember, we’re not just ranking players by skill alone; we’re looking at overall asset value and trade likelihood. To assess trade value, we’re starting with overall on-field value — with a premium on an ability to make an impact in the current season — and then adjusting for contract and market factors. With contenders’ needs in relatively sharp focus, limitations such as future contract status, age, and niche role (platoon bats, relief-only pitchers) tend to have less of a drag on value — though obviously they still matter quite a bit. With regard to the likelihood of a swap, the focus is on potential selling teams’ motivation to deal, with contract status, near and long-term roster fit, and overall competitiveness all weighing heavily. Some teams simply aren’t in a position at present where it makes sense to include their top potential trade chips, but that will evolve over the coming weeks. Without further ado, here’s this week’s list: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/06/top-10-trade-candidates-mlb.html

Actually, the ultimate dream scenario is that Lincecum performs well in the regular season, we make the playoffs, win the world series in part because of his amazing pitching, he signs a 2-year deal with an option with the Angels in the offseason. Boom!
-
Lincecum is done after 5 IP. Almost 100 pitches so it looks like his next start may be this weekend or next Monday for the Angels. btw, A.J. Achter sucks.
-
Yeah, he was off in the 1st inning. After that he's been on point with his command.
-
Just like his last start, cruising after the first inning. 5 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 2 ER, 6 K.

Your Rangers are looking like they're going to be tough to beat this season. -
4 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 5 K.
-
Tim Lincecum through 3 innings. 3 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 2 ER, 4 K.
-
Timmy comes back with a solid 2nd inning and strikes out the side in order.
