I have no idea if Simmons will get an extension or not. But if they can agree on a contract it’s in the Angels best interest to do so.
I'm saying with this virus in the off season teams will not be spending. Teams may be letting players go that are going to arbitration. Things are not normal who knows by next season if fans will be allowed in stands or in a limited capacity. Teams are going to cut payroll anyway they can. I love Simmons as a player but he will not be back.

This is idiotic. The regular season is not a time for evaluation, it's the time to play the players who give the team the best chance to win. How do you not understand this? I've seen some really stupid posts from you lately. Are you trolling or simply clueless?
Win what this year? Players that Angels future should be playing. Simmons will not be signed this off season, teams will be looking to cut payroll. Besides I think Adell is halos best option in RF for this shortened season. Put Adell in RF and Fletcher at SS.

Does anyone actually think he’s gonna play every game starting on opening day?
He’ll get 35 games tops, which is not enough to see if he’ll be the everyday guy in 2021. Had they had a full season and he got say 85 games then I could see him being the everyday guy.
I do not think he will be starter in RF but I wish he was for the experience and his development. He is a very special player.

That’s exactly the plan. Play him in the AZ fall league, you know, a meaningless season.
AZ fall league may not happen. If it does great.

He will grow and learn by playing. Let him get 60 games under his belt he is halo future along with Marsh, Fletcher, Thaiss and others let them play. Sit Albert and Simmons, let's use this 60 games for these players to get experience. Practice all you want in off season this is great time to evaluate players.

And if he isn’t ready?
Only way to find out is play. Give him the experience in a meaningless season. He will grow and learn from it.

Adell is on the cusp of a major league career. Do you honestly believe he will regress? Based on everything I have read on Adell, he will take this time to work on the areas he needs to improve without playing in games. Practice can also be beneficial for focused and motivated players. I am not worried about Adell.
Practice, practice we talking about practice come on practice. You can practice all you want after season. Experiences is what will count get him 60 games now that's the best practice.

No, but that isn’t what’s going to happen. He will be playing and practicing.

He said that it's the players job so what if they miss the birth of their kids. My question is why are countries like Canada and European cases so much lower than U S, Did we lack leadership as they did not do their job. Until we have some sort of national plan to combat this virus you can forget about sports as we know it.

Someone off 40 man roster must go.

Yes -- waste a year of service time on a meaningless season.... or you know, wait a couple weeks and retain his rights for another full season.
New CBA after 2021 everything will change

This is basically a meaningless season, so let Jo Adell play. It would be a lost season for him if he just sits. Let him get the experience that will help him down the road. He might be best option for RF anyways. Same for Matt Thaiss just sit Albert as he is not the future. If you are not going to resign Simmons play Fletcher and Rengifo at SS.

Jose Rojas also could be a lefty off the bench.
La Stella will not play 1st.
Also, with all of the lefty bench options, I think Ward could see some time in the lineup, as a righty off the bench.
With 26 men, and a 13 man lineup 12 man pitching staff (not incl Ohtani), you'd have Trout, Rendon, Pujols, Fletcher, Simmons, and Upton as righty hitters, plus Castro and Goodwin as lefty hitters.
Then your bench is likely LaStella, Thaiss from the left side, Stassi from the right side, and Rengifo as a switch hitter. Then who fits as the last man? Another lefty or a righty? Goodwin also isn't guaranteed the job, and he could be on the bench, with Adell as the starter. Rengifo and Thaiss also have options and could be up and down.
At 30 men, you likely carry two more pitchers to a 16 man staff, and two more hitters. That's likely to be an OF and an INF, though I could see a 3rd C, and just an OF.
At 28, you likely drop a pitcher and a hitter, but maybe two pitchers.
Joe Maddon has said LaStella will get some looks at 1B

Fletcher- 2nd
Trout-CF
Ohtani- DH
Rendon- 3rd
Upton- LF
Castro- C
Albert- 1b
Simmons- SS
Adell- RF
If LaStella picked up a first baseman’s glove then I would put him at first over Albert. I bat Ohtani between Trout and Rendon because of the 3 batter rule for bullpen guys, which to me outweighs the drop off between Ohtani and Rendon, which won’t be much.
LaStella not playing 1B

4 or 5 days a week, when Ohtani isn't starting at SP or on his recovery day.
2B Fletcher/LaStella
CF Trout
3B Rendon
DH Ohtani
LF Upton
SS Simmons
1B Pujols/Thaiss
C Castro/Stassi
RF Goodwin/Adell/Walsh/Ward
When Ohtani is a SP or recovery day:
UTIL Fletcher
CF/DH Trout
3B/DH Rendon
LF/DH Upton
1B Pujols/Thaiss
SS Simmons
2B LaStella
C Castro/Stassi
RF/CF/LF Goodwin/Adell
If he is in lineup Albert 7th or lower is way to go

Ohtani pitches on Sundays with 3 off days on Monday will help keep him in lineup.

I miss the game as much as anyone but what scares me more is lack of leadership in our nation. Players opting out and positive cases going up not down. All of us want things back to normal, when you can go to a game have a beer. How do we get to that point? Do we have baseball or not is really not that important. Are kids going back to school this fall and what happens to this virus then. We as a nation need to find some answers. Why are numbers in Canada and Europe gone down? What did they do different?
-
I know they are just inter squad games but wonder if they could be televised.

They were 45 and 34

July 4, 1962 Angels defeat Washington Senators in a doubleheader and are in first place. A great feat for a second year team. Most of you will not remember this but I do, one of my greatest memories as an Angel fan.
-
I feel Mike Trout is not far behind for his family I hope he does. Cases are going up because lack of leadership in our nation. Look at numbers in Canada they had a national plan. In this country we are hoping Penn and Teller can just make it disappear.

Over 1% have tested positive so far before workouts, that number will go up. Mike Trout and other players will have concerns and be on their mines thru out this process. If I was in same spot I would opt out. Keep your family safe top priority.
Let Jo Adell play
