  1. So they can DFA him again and try to sneak him through waivers the next time they need 40-man space.
  2. I'm not sure how you interpret me saying it "seems pointless" as complaining when I said right before that it's "not a big deal."
  3. My first reaction was why? Maybe he recently held a workout or something where he impressed them? Milb deal, so not a big deal, but seems pointless.
  4. Option A, since Snell/Montgomery improve the team for more than just this season. But I’d be cool with either.
  5. I’ve been in a sour mood after hearing Arte’s comments today and I am less excited about the roster as it stands today, but I’m not one of those people who claims they aren’t gonna watch games or something like that. I’m looking forward to a new season, seeing what Wash brings and how the younger players do. I also hope we get a vintage Mike Trout season, and one where he “takes back his team” by staying healthy and returning to form.
  6. I will say, I think it’s a different perspective for people who saw the Angels accomplish the ultimate goal than people who didn’t. I didn’t see them win the World Series. And when I really started following the team everyday, it was after they were making the playoffs. I am also looking forward to Wash and the new coaching staff, but the Angels I know have been ran poorly by Arte Moreno.
  7. We’ll see what the budget is once we hit the start of the season and whether they made any more moves. But if the payroll is anywhere near what it’s at right now, Perry deserves a ton of scrutiny for his allocation of resources. If you have this many holes on the roster, you can’t be spending $8M on García, Cimber, Cisnero, Plesac, and Kolarek.
  8. If they want him to be a long relief option out of the pen, they need to stretch him out. Also, he’s a more attractive trade piece if he’s starting.
  9. That would also necessitate bringing in another SP. Bieber is more of a risk, but he fills a bigger position of need.
  10. @Jeff Fletcher The Angels team website lists Dylan Cintula as the head strength and conditioning coach, so does that mean Alejo is the assistant? Or is the website wrong?
  11. The Angels shouldn’t be trading for players with 1 year left on their deal. Only player it’d make sense for is Bieber, since he would likely sign an extension.
  12. I don’t think signing a Ryu/Clev/Lorenzen type improves the contention chances that much, if at all. I think the Angels best chance of contention involves guys like Silseth/Bachman/Daniel stepping up and exceeding expectations.
  13. Yeah, I’m not sure the Lorenzen/Clevinger/Ryu types are much of an upgrade over what they currently have. If you sign one of them, then Anderson or Silseth gets bumped out. Like I’d rather see if Anderson (who you’re already paying) can be better, and give Silseth a legit opportunity.
  14. I would be surprised if they didn’t. That’s literally part of their job.
  15. I think it’s gonna be difficult for the Angels to sign any of the remaining top free agents. It seems like they may be waiting for prices to fall, but: 1) that may not happen. 2) even if it does happen, then other teams are gonna jump in the mix. Particularly ones that are more desirable to play for. So the needle they’re trying to thread is waiting for prices to drop some, but not to the point where other teams jump in or the player decides to take even less just to play for a better team.
  16. Clevinger: 0/$0M Lorenzen: 1/$5M Anderson: 1/$5M Votto: milb deal Martinez: 1/$20M
