Well there's one guy that Calloway can't ruin...at least according to WFAN in NY. They are saying that he totally screwed up Familia and Diaz. It's kinda funny, when he came from Cleveland he was " the pitching whisperer" a scant two years later the pitchers couldn't stand him, and went to management to get him gone.

All we need to do is trade Addell, Trout and Ohtani for Happ and we'll be good.
Get it done, Eppy!
I never said that. I said to take him for free. As a salary dump. I have no doubt that if he starts this year that he'll do better than One of Bundy, Teheran, Sandoval, or Heaney. If you think that bunch is gonna get you to the playoffs you're delusional.
the good thing about happ is he takes the ball every 5th day and he did it in Toronto too.

Undertaker was solid enough in 2018 too over 36 innings (2.97 ERA and 1.22 WHIP).
As for Diaz, maybe he's one of those guys who has trouble adapting to change? Relievers are odd ducks.
The last 4 words of your post are gold.
That they are
Kirby Yates was Just Another Guy in NY. But in San Diego he became Superman

Undertaker begs to differ.
Haven't we learned yet Blake Parker was good for a year. Hansel Robles was good for a year too. But having seen him since he came up with the mets, I don't trust him as far as I can piss.. I mean he's been great as an Angel, but I keep waiting for him to turn back into a pumpkin
but hey maybe it's citi field. Edwin Diaz went from great in the A L west to a warm mess of goo in Citi field and Calloway for all his expertise, had nothing in his bag of tricks to help him. It's what got him fired

The bullpen is fine. Chasing big names is highly risky. (Isn’t that what screwed over the Rockies - going all in on big name relievers?)
Your point is well taken. I'm not really disputing that. I'm just saying that the overall table is crazy. how can the Angels with the gaping maw that we have in the rotation, be rated higher than the nationals. Pitching is still part of the game. Their top 4 is better than anyone we have except for obtain and coming off Tommy John surgery, he needs to be sheltered.
they must be assuming things that haven't yet happened

I can't believe that list. Look at the Nationals. With Scherzer Strasburg and Corbin. They just won the title too and they are projected to be worse than the angels. I get it Trout and Rendon..great players for certain. But be honest as things stand right now would you bet your house on that projection?
and by right now I mean, no catcher and no real bullpen. Either it's a typo or somebody is smoking crack over at fangraphs

Actually no the Wilpons have already admitted that Cohen's infusion of cash allowed them to sign wacha and porcello. So Cohen is already having an impact. He already was a minority shareholder. He's just buying a controlling interest.
According to Forbes he's worth 13 billion and would be the richest individual owner in baseball. That and he's personal friends with syndergaard.
So I doubt that's happening
Apparently mr Moreno doesn't believe in paying for top line pitching since both the Dodgers and Yankees outbid them for Cole. Especially since eppler called him a priority.

Actually, the Mets and Angels line up pretty well for a trade. I live in Jersey and I get a lot of NYC sports-talk radio and news so I know the Mutts and Stankees pretty well. The Mets are in desperate need of a true center-fielder. They have four outfielders that are all decent or better in Comforto, Cespedes, Nimmo, and JD Davis but none of them are center-fielders.
Also, I think the Mets would be open to trading pitching. Sure, as the old saying goes, you can never have too much pitching, but the Mets probably have too much pitching now. With the additions of Porcello and Wacha to the back of the rotation, they Mets now have seven quality starting pitchers; even with the departure of Wheeler. deGrom, Syndergaard, and Stroman are as good a front-three as there is. Matz, Porcello, and Wacha makes six. Seth Lugo is a starter but he's being sent back to the pen. He's already expressed his displeasure with the move. And Giselman was originally a starter.
Furthermore, these aren't the Angels' pitchers. The Halos had a heck of a lot of starters last season but only because of all the injuries and tragedy. Porcello, Stroman, Matz, Syndergaard, and deGrom all pitched over 160 innings last season. And going back years previous. Wacha seems to be trending back in that direction after his injuries woes of 2018-19. And there's no reason to believe Lugo can't do the same. These guys are all going to want to pitch and there are just so many starts to go around.
The Mets have flirted with trading Syndergaard numerous times before. I think their belief is they'll never be able to afford him when he hits free agency. Now that they've lost Wheeler, another pitcher they openly pursued trading several times, for nothing, they're likely to be more motivated to move Thor. Brandon Marsh is a true center-fielder whose stock has risen a lot in the last six months or so. I think that's enough of a framework for a substantive discussion to be had. I certainly hope that Eppler is having those talks. More so than all the talks we keep hearing about Boston and David price.
That may have been true under the Wilpons but recently billionaire Steve Cohen announced he's buying the Mets. And they also recently traded for C.F. Jake Marisnick. So it's likely that unless the Angels are offering Trout there's no traction there

Hi Bill,
How are you doing tonight? It's nice to hear from you again.
So Fletcher and $30 M?
Price is owed $96 M so the Angels would pay Price $22 M per year for the next three years?
I think your Joisey boys and you would say that's too much for a Price in decline.
Maybe the Yankees do that deal for Clint Frazier or Luke Voit and $30 M
Unlike the angels though, the Yankees have real quality starters. So I doubt they'd be interested. But hey I was just passing the news along.
Heck, not being from the West coast maybe Angels fans don't care about winning as much as we all do in the east. I don't know what to think after reading some of these posts.
who in their right mind would trade Lindor AND Clevenger for Adell and Marsh. As it stands Mike Trout himself couldn't get Lindor and Clevenger. Cleveland is only trading them cause they are trying to save payroll and the Dodgers have better prospects to offer
-
Over on SOSH the red Sox forum they were reporting that the globe had the Angels trading Fletcher for Price and 30 M

That's 5 wasted minutes I'll never get back. guess I know how Mike feels now

Why would the Mets or Indians do that?

Lou doesn't want J.A. Happ. He used a stat to explain why.
For some reason that sent you into a gamma rage where you started using words like bozo and imbecile. It's been quite entertaining.
why because he thinks we dont need a pitcher who can eat innings and probably come free.?
its infuriating
if eppler cant get a guy who can take the ball every 5th day with a track record of actually consistently winning games, whats the use?
the reds loved what Sonny Gray did for them, and I see Happ as this years version

Bless your heart. (what and....)youre right of course. ill always root for Mike, but Lou gets my dander up because he doesnt realize how important having someone to take the ball every5th day is

lol at Yankees fan getting his panties in a bunch because we don't want their overpriced garbage.
believe what you want, sooner or later youll realize youre wasting the career of the greatest player of this generation, as great as he is he cant do it alone, rendon will help but without any pitchers who have a track record of taking the ball every 5th day youre going nowhere
Atlanta non tendered Teheran
Bundy has a 5 era over the last two years
Heaney cant stay healthy
and ohtani as great as he is pitches once a week
Canning has great promise but who is gonna eat innings
its not like the pen can carry the staff
(on second thought Buttrey probably thinks he can do it all by himself...god love him

Well, that's true Bill. In 2015 we had 5 SP's over 130 IP, 3 SP's over 150 IP and 2 over 180 IP. We won 85 games. I think this rotation is the closest to that one since then. And we're not done yet.
You do seem awfully bitter for a newbie.
Tell me, have you ever posted here under another name? Or are you just a long suffering fan?
im a mike trout fan for years he went to school with my cousins in joisey, and they clued me in, we all were heart broken when he was drafted one pick before the yankees picked and the three of us have rooted for him ever since
each of us has a signed trout jersey that we got mike to sign at yankee stadium in 2013

classic
you know ive rooted for the angels because I love mike trout
but because of you Lou. im gonna laugh so hard when he never wins a single playoff game
itll be sad for sure but you deserve it

We should trade for Happ because Wins.
no bozo, I said Happ over the lat 4 years has more wins (59) than Kluber (58) and Keuchel (43). because he pitches every 5th day. theres value in that. only and imbecile reduces that to wins
The Angels biggest problem is they havent had that since Weaver Richards and Shoemaker, as good as Ohtani is he doesnt help you there
as long as you dont understand the basic fact that you need a guy who can take the ball every 5th day and consistently generate wins youll get nowhere
and trout will retire without a single playoff win let alone a ring

yeah, I don't get that. why would I believe what I don't want to?
its the reason you ignore context
did you ever hear of Sonny Gray?
if you dont want to research its no wonder youre so clueless

your argument was that his era was high because of all if the HRs he allowed at home. numbers show that they were practically the same as on the road.
ergo, your theory is wrong.
Happ sucks .... especially at $home runs per atbet didnt tell the story17M/yr
once again you ignore context it was because of the homers at yankee stadium he pitched differently at home , he said so himself. So you think you know more than he does.....thats good to know . you just proved how clueless you truly are
go look at the splits before you make claims you dont understand
im going on what he said. youre talking out of your rear end

I got my information from reading his HR and AB statistics. That's how you get HR/AB.
except you ignore 26 more batters faced in only 4 innings. pro rata stats are less valuable when you ignore context
26 more hits and 2 more hrs allowed at home in 26 at bats
thats why context matters. you keep believing what you want though
remember he pitched 82 innings at home and 78 on the road thats 4 innings. and in those 4 innings he gave up 26 more hits and 2 more hrs
context matters
trying to avoid the short porch affected him
keep believing what you want though
the only thing grandiose about you are your delusions of grandeur in regard to your own intelligence

but thats affected by facing way more batters at home due to the higher whip is it not? and a much higher batting average against at home
when you ignore context you get stupid conclusions
but as i say believe what you wish
