  1. Well Scherzer's agent is Scott Broas so there's your answer for him. $35M+ AAV guaranteed.
  2. Honestly surprised by not hearing any news yet on Iglesias accepting or rejecting the QO yet. Didn't think it'd take all the way till the deadline. Maybe they'll suddenly announce a 3yr/$45M deal.
  3. Castillo and Gray would cost an incredible amount. Marsh/Adell, Detmers and others. It's cheaper financially, but the farm disappears.
  4. If they Angels were thinking about getting both Montas and Bassitt (which would be pretty hard), Then we'd assume it starts with Adell/Marsh and Canning or even Detmers.
  5. The Angels aren't done and they (hopefully) will get the Ace they need. I'd also assume they've talked to Oakland about Montas OR Bassitt. Getting both would be a big pay.
  6. Look on page 23 ^^^ But I love this idea. I'd rather them go after Scherzer and keep Adell/Marsh. Just worries me with what is up with Upton. Unless like you mentioned that they salary dump Upton then maybe they can grab Suzuki.
  7. Okay wait this is just one writers' opinion. The Angels have already made a push and have been saying all offseason they want multiple arms. Let this play out a little...
  8. I'd say there's a chance he lasts better. So far he's been defying father time (yes I know "so far"). Bringing him in gets a true Ace as well as someone our young staff needs to listen to. He and Trout would lead the entire team.
  9. This is usually the case, however a case for someone like Scherzer might work for something up to 3 years. it's higher AAV, but the longterm risk is way less. Plus, there's no draft pick attached to him.
  10. Anything over 5 gets iffy for me. I'd take Scherzer high AAV. Let Scherzer run the rotation. The Angels need someone like that.
  11. Big arms on short terms could mean Scherzer. Doubt the Angels want to sign 2 arms coming off major injury. Safer route might be Stroman.
  12. Biller Eppler is experiencing his own groundhogs day issues. He's about to become the GM of a team yet again with barely any pitching. Or at least worse that what it was.
  13. Remember, Matt Vasgersian reported that Mike Trout had been recruiting Max Scherzer. I know they just gave 21M to someone else, but I don't think the Angels would let Trout do that and then never pursue it. I'd have to imagine there is still a chance that happens since Trout was involved.
  14. If we're assuming they are only spending about $50M then they still might be able to get Stroman on a backloaded deal and some bullpen arms. If the budget is raised then Everyone is still on the table.
  15. Good point. I guess since Ohtani does need his rest days it's hard for me to see him as a true Ace, but don't get me wrong, the dude blows batters away. Thor is a top pick of mine too, but I still want one more arm. Most playoff/contending teams ride with a top-3. If Stroman fills that slot by getting the multi-year deal then I can settle so long as we build one hell of a bullpen.
  16. So if Thor is getting $21M I can't Imagine the Angels being done. Ohtani/Thor make a solid 2/3 pairing. Are they spending more this offseason? Or will a trade come next? To me, they still need that true Ace.
