    fair point, Ohtani is good no doubt but his splitter is A+, his fastball has been disappointing I tend to look more so at fangraphs/analytics and their analysis - I agree that Ohtani is a good pitcher with good stuff but his fastball doesn't rise as much as anticipated so it's not a Kimbrel/Chapman FB where it will eat hitters up. It needs to be located in the corners.

    Ohtani doesn't trust his fastball, he throws 0-0, 1-0 breaking balls he's been behind 50% of the batters

    fangraphs steamer which is a constantly updating projection system had him at #6 in ERA among starters in the beginning of the year however they've been updating and he's fallen around ten slots behind names like Mcullers/Morton, he's one spot ahead of Richards. most people on this board can't stand Richards so if Ohtani is amazing then Richards is too. Projections also are all future values so they predict future ERA.

    Ohtani's fastball was hyped as this 100mph dominant pitch, but fangraphs wrote how it's not really a swing and miss pitch bc it doesn't rise. Hitters just don't seem to be scared of that pitch compared to a Chapman/Kimbrel type fastball
