  1. If the Phillies are supposedly going ALL IN on free agents, then Trout may have zero incentive to extend. So, yeah, that's another incentive to wait for Harper or Machado or Kimbrel before considering whether to extend. Say the Phillies land Machado and Kimbrel to long term contracts. That might be enough incentive to jump ship for a team with a shot at the WS. Basically, his hometown team. Yep, Trout's waiting to see what the big-ticket free agents do.........maybe for more than one reason.
  2. Juan, have you ever been to that stadium? I think I am going to shoot for the Rosa seats in the second level. Probably go to both games, if I can get tix. There is a great 360 degree shot of the stadium on Google maps.
  3. Have you heard anything about the pricing? It's going to sell out quickly, just from the locals.
  4. Been there, done that. This is a unique opportunity. We might get to experience two kinds of "shots" in the stadium. Tequila and cuernos de chivos!!
  5. How are you planning on getting tickets? Are they for sale yet? I did a search of aftermarket tix agencies in Mexico and the prices are outrageous, but I dont think they are actually for sale yet. Advanced sales scalping? I live in Mexico in the winter, on the mainland. I would fly there from Sonora. I am down here now.
  6. No, it's a Halo Hangout article that alludes to a Forbes article. Written by a David Rice. https://halohangout.com/2017/12/31/arte-moreno-15-years-ownership-los-angeles-angels/ Near the bottom.
  7. Well, I did find it. And it was on an Angel site. From earlier this year. It refers to some Forbes article. But I think I'll wait to post it, to give you a chance to disparage my gender, my age or my race. Your reply is just not up to snuff for you. Where's the hate you are so good at? Are you even capable of having an adult discussion?
  8. I am not finding it again. I think I must have misread it somewhere. I did find reference that they are the eighth most valuable BASEBALL franchise, but that's not what I remember seeing. It surprised me, too. I am astounded at the valuations of the NFL teams on Forbes' lists. Come on, even the Tennessee Titans are more valuable than the Angels?
  9. I didnt just pull it out of my arse. Lemme see if I can find it again.
  10. I'll never forget that strange little hitch he had in his practice swings, while in the batter's box.
  11. Yeah, you'll have no shortage of people to demean here, for reasons other than baseball. You'll easily find many replacements, with your obscure criteria. If I DO go, you will certainly be the primary reason. Somehow, I feel I won't be the first to make this decision at Angels Win.................
  12. Strad, give me your top five burgers at chain burger places where you can get a burger for under, say, 8.00; so as to exclude fancy sit-down places. After all, it's easy to spend 12-15.00 on a burger at those places. Shall we assume that you couldn't publicly NOT put I-N-O first? If so, give us your next four. So many chains now............
  13. One of three "hated" Willies, if you grew up a Dodger fan in the 60s. The others were Mays and Stargell, whom Vinny always seemed to call Wilver. What a "Stretch" he had at first base................also is well-known for one of the most famous outs to end a World Series.
  14. I guess I am old school, but civility and publicly acknowledging having misgivings about what one writes, are big to me. And rather rare around here, unfortunately. That, and the lack of true baseball fans here, has me on the verge of bailing on this site. I guess I have six months to figure it out.
  15. Apparently, the Angel FO feels that starting pitching is our top priority. I can understand that, but the offense can't be ignored. Four of the five clubs in our division scored more runs than us. We were league and MLB average in runs scored. Given that Pujols will be in the lineup probably 2/3 of the time (at least), we need to counteract that offensive drag and the likely offensive drag of another sub-par (or is it now, par?) season by Calhoun. WE NEED TO GET A DAMN LEADOFF HITTER, to put in front of Trout, Ohtani, Upton, Simmons fer cryin out loud!! It can exponentially increase the runs we score if Trout, Ohtani and Upton have the kinds of season they are capable of. The sum can be greater than the parts, with the right guy. To kill two birds with one stone, find a leadoff hitter who can play right and center and, at the very least, platoon RF with Calhoun or replace him, when he slumps. McCutcheon or Jay seem like good choices. Jay, especially, because he will sign a 1-2 year contract. If Cutch wants three, then he is probably a pass, with the PURPORTED emergence (though he still Ks a boatload) of Adell. Cutch/Jay, Trout, Ohtani, Upton, Simmons, Pujols/Fernandez, Cozart, catcher, Fletch. We can live with what hitters like Fletch, Cozart and Fernandez are likely to give us (probably better than what we got from KInsler, Valbuena/Marte and Albert last year, anyway) IF we have run-scoring machinery at the top of the lineup.
  16. Well, that's incredibly apparent. And taking the time to call people asswipes. Dont forget that bucket list item of yours.
  17. The biggest revelation for me during this year's playoffs was how many Angels Win members are fans of the Angels only. Not baseball. I find that simply incredible. It seems to be the majority around here. It's like saying if you cant have Domino's pizza, you dont eat pizza. Or if you cant have an In-N-Out burger, you refuse to eat a burger (with one obvious exception, on this board). What else, guys? You only drink one beer or tequila? Only look at your wife/GF? Only drive Toyotas? Only watch movies with Avenger characters? Only read fiction? Only use Charmin in the john? It's like some kind of weird gang-affiliation mentality. If Mike Trout leaves the Angels, you will write him out of your lives as some kind of turncoat? Baseball is beautiful. Players come and go, but baseball remains beautiful, despite it's relatively minor flaws. I think there is great beauty in watching great players like Trout, Betts, Benintendi, Altuve, Bregman, Turner, etc, that transcends team allegiance.
  18. I really don't give a fig about the coaching staff. Let's get going with the player personnel changes, already!!! Players win more ball games than coaches!!!! We need to buck the retread strategy and sign some legit free agents. Doesnt have to be Machado or Harper types. Mikey says winning is important. Getting good players is important to winning. Everybody south of the 605 wants Mikey to stay past 2020. Are you about winning or making money, Arte? Forbes says you are worth 2.5 billion and the Angels are the 8th most valuable sports franchise in ANY sport. And you are worrying about exceeding a spending threshold by a few million?
  19. Another catchable ball missed by the Dodgers. Pederson was there.
  20. Cookie policy tab still there on my Galaxy S7 running Chrome. All the cookie settings are as Chuck suggested. It actually blocks being able to look at new replies.
  21. So many EX angels in the playoffs. Very sad, to quote the president.
  22. I suspect five runs is just too much for a national league team.
